Hi there guys! Here I am again with Matti's meal plates! I am sharing with you a continuation of the part two because these photos were taken again from February, March and April. In short, these photos were from his first month or his start as a BLW baby. Again, BLW means Baby-led Weaning.
Compared to the traditional method where babies are spoon-fed when introducing solids, BLW aims to allow the child to feed himself, giving him the confidence in exploring his food, picking it up, and placing them into his mouth. Also, it aims to provide a healthier meal to the child, no added salt or sugar for the first two years of the child.
When we started Matti's BLW journey, we waited for his high chair and his bamboo plates to arrive. More importantly, we waited until Matti could sit unassisted. With his high chair, we can avoid choking cases and with the right cut and sizes of the food, he can grasp it with his palm and feed himself.
As the months progressed and he is also progressing with his feeding habits, we eventually changed the cuts to small pieces for him to practice his pincer grasp.
Here,I cut the carrots and sweet potato into thick and long strips enough for him to pick up using the palm.
Sometimes, when I am not able to plate his food, I just place them in his high chair tray. We are using the IKEA Antilop chair in white. Bought this online for around Php 2000.
Bought another plate for Matti but this one, he can easily pull and take from the tray, the bamboo plate on the other hand, he can't take out so I often use that instead.
Sometimes, I overwhelm Matti with too many servings.
When eating champurado, Matti becomes very messy.
My go-to recipes are always rolled oat pancake and white sauce pasta. Sometimes, if there are good sweet potatoes, I'd also cook him sweet potato curry balls. Lately, I tried exploring other items in the kitchen such as potatoes and made hashbrowns.
