Hello everyone in foodies Bee Hive community
I'm writing from a busy kitchen in Cape Town, South Africa.
This is my not-so-Quick-Quick-pasta
I made the tagliatelle fresh by combining 375g of plain flour, half a tablespoon of salt and 4 eggs (I find room temperature eggs work the best). I like to sieve the flour and salt on to a flat surface, making a well in centre of flour, and adding the eggs, kneading the sticky dough until it's a smooth dough. Having extra flour for dusting the dough really helps to make it less sticky.
I usually divide the pasta dough in to four balls and let it rest for a little bit. It's best to wrap the dough balls in cling film while the pasta is resting so the dough doesn't dry out.
Next step is flattening the pasta balls out before rolling the dough through the pasta machine and slicing it in to noodles.
I like the thickness of the noodles to be about 6mm thick and 7mm wide. I allow the noodles to dry out slightly before cooking them.
Now for the meat balls: I blended pork and beef mince, a cup of white bread crumbs ,1 egg yolk, seasoned the mixture with salt and pepper -about half a teaspoon of each and sprinkle of garlic powder. Divide the mixture into 10 meat balls and allow to rest in the fridge.
While the meatballs were resting, I diced up half an onion and heated up about a tablespoon of oil in a pan.
Next I browned the meat balls on each side and added the diced onion, I cooked the onion and meatballs together until the onion was browned. I lowered the heat and added in my premade pasta sauce.
I allowed the sauce and meatballs to cook together for about twenty minutes before boiling the water for the pasta.
Once the pot of water for the pasta was boiling, I added the fresh pasta and cooked for around 3 minutes.
I scooped the pasta from water and placed in the same pan as the meat balls and pasta sauce and I allowed it cook for another two minutes.
I served the pasta and meatballs with shaved parmesan cheese and a quick grind of black pepper.

Hi @juliadick
Good recipe, good photos, but please read our community rules, especially number 4, which says:
Every user new to Hive, or new to Foodies Bee Hive, must include a minimum of three photos showing their face (of the total number of photos in each post), making their recipes.
So in your next posts, we hope you respect this rule.
We also recommend that you read this post carefully, it explains each of our community rules:

And this other too

Thanks
Hello there. I did not even know that this is a thing.
I have been using Foodies Bee Hive for years so am I alright with now showing MY face in the posts?
Is this just to "get to know" the new posters?
Also, do they need to do this on their first Foodies Bee Hive post in the community or how long does it apply?
I would like to know because I on-board people to Hive and posting about Food is something a lot of people would be drawn to!
Hi @zakludick
We don't understand why you are responding to this message if it's not with you? Or is this a farming ring?
Although users have been posting on Foodies Bee Hive for some time, if the team considers it necessary for them to appear in the publications, in the photos, we can request it.
Good day @foodiesunite.
Your message to Julia is in public, not private. I believe I already explained why I am asking follow-up questions. I am merely trying to understand what the rules are.
This is not a very nice thing to say. No, this not a farming ring. @juliadick (Julia Dick) and @jasperdick (Jasper Dick) are friends of ours. I introduced them to Hive, though Julia's husband, Jasper has been busy for much longer.
Julia has just started getting active again so I am just showing some interest and since myself and my wife, @clairemobey post in Foodies Bee Hive, its quite relevant that I ask questions.
Also, I think I understand why you might think our accounts are related. @zakludick is actually Zak Ludick.
So though the last four letters in the account names are the same, my surname is Ludick and their's is Dick. We are not related. But we all live in Cape Town and know each other. But people have made that mistake thinking my name must be "Zaklu" for some reason.
@jasperdick and @clairemobey do music together, collaboratively they are called Mobey Dick. If you would like to check that, you can probably find all of us on Facebook and Mobey Dick on Youtube. Though its Julia Baker, her maiden name.
Noted. Like I said. I am really only trying to learn and to help guide others.
Hi @zakludick
We didn't really see that spelling detail of the surname coincidence.
Since you want to learn, we invite you to read this post carefully: https://peakd.com/hive-120586/@foodiesunite/community-rules-update-2024-engspn-8gb
And it will be great, from now on, to see you and all your friends (@juliadick @clairemobey @jasperdick), in photos, making the recipes that you and they present in this community, or presenting your gastronomic reviews, you know, it's a way for new users on Hive to get to know you, and for us to remember your faces. This will be great to do for several posts, not just one, but for a while.
Greetings.
Alright. Good to know. Thanks.
We also need your other social networks, especially X's, and if you have Instagram and Facebook, we need those accounts too @juliadick
Hi, I'm Julia's husband - I see she hasn't answered yet, but she definitely is a real person with those accounts under her maiden name (Baker)... let's see:

I hope this helps... I definitely remember eating this pasta with meatballs about a week ago!
