Cooking My Favorite Meal : Afia Efere Ebod , White Soup

in Foodies Bee Hive3 days ago

Good evening members of the Fooddies Bee Hive community. How are you people doing today?

Happy new year to each and everyone of you.I welcome everyone of you to my blog.

I'm so excited to be a part of this family. It's my first time posting in this great community, and I hope I'm welcome in this community.

Today, happens to be a very beautiful day.I woke up this morning very sound, though I was very hungry.I was still contemplating on what i should prepare for myself. But it was very difficult to arrive at what i really wanted to eat at that very moment.

So, finally, i decided to go for a very nutritious dish, which is very easy to prepare, and it tastes nice whenever it is been served.

I had three thousand naira with me, so I decided to go into the market, get a yam , with other items , which I used in preparing the meal.

The meal i prepared was called Afia efere ebod, meaning white soup, in English.I'm a Nigerian girl, but I'm from Akwa Ibom State, still in Nigeria.

Afia efere ebod, happens to be one of our traditional dishes.Every December and new year, that's what my mother used to prepare for the whole family.

So, it was my turn to do what I was taught.

Before I continue, I want to say that I used traditional kitchen to prepare the meal, and I also wore the traditional attire our people used while cooking.

First step: I pilled the yam, wash it before I boiled it.After boiling it, I removed it from the fire, I used my big spoon to get it out from the pot, into the mortar.

Second step: I pounded the yam by myself, though the pounding was a little bit difficult.

Third step: I cut out part of the yam that I pounded into a big plate. Then, I brought out all the ingredients and other items that I would be using ,and I put them inside a round stainless tray.

They include: Pepper and crayfish, salt, maggi, fish, which were of two types, dry shark and another fish. Then inside the tray, I also put the plate which I cut out the pounded yam inside the tray. If you look at the tray very carefully, you will see something that looks brownish in colour. It is called uyayak in my dialect. It is used to prepare white soup, because it gives the soup a nice taste.

Fourth step: I put the pot again on the fire, I put water, before I put all the needed ingredients inside the pot.

Fifth step: I cut the pounded yam which I put inside the plate into the pot.

Immediately after that I opened the pot, and i observe the pot carefully, and behold my soup was ready.

Sixth step: I dished out the soup into a breakable plate, for my brothers.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

I hope to see you again in my blog.

I remain your favorite girl @joyben.

Hi @joyben

This recipe is very interesting, in addition to being very authentic and traditional, however, we recommend that you read this post, where we offer you some tips for making the posts written in this community, such as, for example, placing the list of ingredients used with their respective quantities, as well as the rations obtained. Read it carefully.
