First meal of 2023, cooked on the fire

His majesty on Fire Watch
I started this morning, trying Yet Again to get that fire pit up and burning.
Tried a few days in a row, everything was just TOO WET and I had not fire starter fluid

But I did get it burning quite well this morning, my intent was to have a nice deep bed of Oak Coals to cook over.
But it rained again mid day, putting a 'damper' (see what I did there? ha ha) on my cooking fire.
I covered it, came back later and rekindled things

I ended up having to use some charcoal to get it going so I could cook on it

But the end results speak volumes

That "Crust" is mainly freshly crushed black pepper (mortar and pestle crushed)
Got about half left for tomorrow.

There is nothing tastier than a grilled meat and if it is outdoors better, greetings and a big hug.

Looks tasty, Jerry. I haven't cooked anything over a fire in quite some time.

Oh it WAS tasty for sure @uthus2k , you should try it again some time

Love cooking on the grill; nothing quite like it.

Busted out the charcoal grill a few days ago and cracked open a few beers with the buddies.

Wish I could do that every weekend 😄
