Food trip after the Novena

in Foodies Bee Hive15 days ago

Happy Monday, dear Hivers! As mentioned in my previous blogs, I've been trying to complete the 9 days Novena mass of Snr Sto Nino de Cebu. It has been a tradition in our family to complete the mass, sometimes barely, every year for as long as I can remember. We usually attend the mass late in the afternoon (5pm or 7pm mass schedule). As a consequence, we always have late dinner. That's only one of the sacrifices we made, not to mention braving the storm (figuratively which is the insane crowd, and literally) inside the church.

So after mass, we often indulge ourselves with food. Last Sunday, my family and I had dimsum, our all time favorite go to food.

My mother loves dimsum and often buy these take outs for dinner. But somehow, the steamed rice is difficult to recreate at home. No one dared to, anyway. We've only tried making siomai.

On the first day of the novena, my colleagues and I attended the mass together. When the mass was over, we were tempted to eat squid tempura and other street foods around the downtown area but unfortunately, it was too crowded. So we transported to a mall away from the crowd instead. Take note, we still haven't eaten dinner yet.

It was past mall hours and establishments are about to close. So we searched outside the mall for open stalls. Thankfully we saw this food stall that still caters us.

Side note, though, their menu isn't really tasty, just enough to fill our hunger during that time.

I can't wait to have another good trip after the Novena today. My only worry is the rainy weather lately as it is one of our struggles in attending the mass.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Sending some love and light

With love, Jane
