Hello Foodies, how are you friends today? I pray and hope that all of us are always given health, patience, and happiness in living this life. We really need patience these days, if we look at the economic news and financial conditions that we may experience, we hear that many countries are experiencing high inflation and making prices uncontrollable and even some countries are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Why am I discussing this in the first place? we must be aware, if the food we cook or buy, the price is very influential on the political and economic policies of a country. Think about it, how can a menu of food be enjoyed if the price of the ingredients is too expensive to buy, the sellers only have two choices, namely lowering the quality of food products or increasing the selling price which is certainly burdensome for consumers.

Thankfully, Indonesia has not had inflation yet and all prices are still under control (although there are price increases for some foodstuffs), so I can still go to restaurants, cafes or street food. This time, I went for dinner at a tent stall located not far from my house.

In Medan City, every night there will be food culinary businesses using tents, usually they sell on the side of the road or in front of shop houses that are not used at night. Almost every city in Indonesia has a similar culinary business, the types of food sold are fried chicken, fried fish, grilled chicken, grilled fish and various types of seafood with a delicious spicy sauce.

I had a casual dinner at Seafood Lamongan 5758, which is located at Djamin Ginting Street – Medan Tuntungan. During the morning and afternoon, the selling location is used as a place to wash cars and motorbikes. When I arrived, the visitors weren't too crowded because it was still 7 pm, but judging by the number of employees and the number of benches and tables, it looks like this place will get busier at night. The location is very strategic, because it is on the edge of the highway and there are also many workers who pass that road when going home.

Seafood Lamongan 5758 has three outlets in Medan City. Lamongan is one of the cities in East Java – Indonesia, so we can know the business owner is from that city. However, I don't understand the meaning of 5758, is it some kind of mystical number for luck?

Seafood Lamongan 5758 sells various food menus such as chicken, duck, carp, tilapia, catfish, and puffy. We can choose everything in various ways of presentation such as fried, grilled, sweet and sour with a variety of chili choices. I ordered a portion of rice with Fried Chicken, Sambal Pecak and hot tea.

Fried Chicken and Pecak Sauce

For me, there is nothing better than warm rice and fried chicken in the evening. The menu is very simple, the price is cheap and the taste is very delicious of course. Fried chicken from Seafood Lamongan 5758 is a traditional Indonesian fried chicken made by first covering the chicken with spices and then frying it in very hot oil.

The taste of this fried chicken is certainly different from the crispy flour fried chicken. Lamongan fried chicken has a strong spice taste and soft meat. The addition of chili sauce also makes this dish even more delicious. Sambal pecak is made from chopped green chilies, tomatoes, and onions which are then doused in hot oil. The taste is very spicy but addictive for anyone who tries it.

For one serving of this delicious meal, I only have to pay IDR 25K (1.8 USD) which is a very cheap price for a complete meal with drinks. Of course, these prices can change if this country experiences inflation and prices go up, so I hope that everything is normal, safe and under control.
