Culinary Experience at Hilande Koffie

How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy, to finally be given the time and opportunity to be able to participate again in Foodies Be Hive Community, a community that is most appropriate for sharing culinary experiences in our lives.

Like my previous post on Foodies Be Hive Community, I again want to share a story about my culinary experience when I visited a local café in my city. So, keep watching my post this time.



Hilande Koffie

Last Saturday afternoon, I visited one of the new cafes in my city, namely Hilande Koffie. This new café is located in the Ringroads Point Shopping Complex, Medan Selayan District – Medan City. It will be very easy for us to find this café, because Hilande Koffie is right next to the Bolu Merani outlet, a legendary food souvenir from Medan City. From the information I got, Hilande Koffie and Bolu Meranti is a management managed by one family.

Hilande Koffie uses a two-story building. The first floor is made with the concept of a pastry cafe or French bakery style. We will see the display of Viennoiseries / french baked and pastries which is the main attraction and menu of this café. If we want to dine, we will be directed to go to the second floor of this café.

The Second Floor from Hilande Koffie is designed very beautifully. This café design concept provides maximum comfort for every visitor who comes to this café. In the indoor part of this cafe. Hilande Koffie uses a lot of white for its interior, the concept of the café is similar to the concept of a modern Korean-style cafe which is currently inspiring many new cafes. The arrangement of the tables and chairs is also very good, arrange with the right distance between the tables.

The outdoor space from Hilande Koffie is no less interesting. This cafe conjures up a balcony area on the second floor and makes it an outdoor dine in area which is very aesthetic and beautiful. The combination of ceramics with natural rock motifs with the selected furniture style makes visitors love this place.



Menu and Order System at Hilande Koffie
The pastry menu is indeed the mainstay of this café, as a new café that is side by side with the name of the bakery with a famous and legendary background story, of course pastry and cake products are the main ones. However, HIlande Koffie also provides various main course menus such as pasta, fried rice, fried noodles and various other food menus.

For the drink menu choices, Hilande Koffie provides a coffee and tea menu that can be the choice of visitors who come to this place.

Hilande Koffiee still uses the conventional order system. Customers will choose a seat, then given a menu book from this café. After customers or visitors choose a food or drink menu, we will call the waiter to place an order. When finished, and we will leave this café, we only need to pay at the counter. I rarely find this classic restaurant-style system in Medan City, many new cafes use a direct ordering system to the cashier's desk and direct payments.



Review of My Dish Order

Because I came to the Viennoiseries Store, it doesn't seem complete if I don't order the pastry menu. I ordered two viennoiserie menus, namely Peanut Chocolate Croissant and Almond Matcha Danish. For the drink, I ordered Yunzu Ice Tea no sugar which seemed perfect for that hot afternoon.

First, I will discuss the Peanut Chocolate Croissant first. The croissant that I ordered was served on a small plate covered with parchment paper. The size isn't too big or small, it looks like a medium size. I think, medium pastry size like this is really suitable for dine-in.

My croissants came warm. I cut the center of this croissant to reveal the filling and make it easier to eat. For sure, this croissant has a very delicious taste. The texture of the bread is very unique, the outside feels very crunchy but the inside is very soft. The most delicious part, when the crunchy and soft part of the bread is mixed with the chocolate nuts. It tastes perfect, delicious.

Next, I will be reviewing the almond matcha Danish. At first glance, this cake is similar to a croissant but with a round and flat shape. I really like the shape and texture of the almond matcha Danish at Hilande Koffie, it looks very classic and luxurious. Moreover, the sprinkling of almonds and matcha paste in the middle of this cake makes it very unique.

As for the taste, it is also very delicious. The crunchy texture of the bread combined with the savory almonds and the softness of the matcha paste make the perfect taste for this dish.

The most unique part of my culinary experience at Hilande Koffie is the drink I ordered, Yunju Ice Tea. Normally, people who eat pastries or cakes would prefer to be accompanied by a cup of hot or cold coffee, but I have plans to drink coffee in the evening so I cut down on the amount of caffeine I drink.

As for the taste, Yunju Ice Tea is very fresh and delicious. The taste of the tea is smooth, and the Yunzu orange syrup feels very fresh on my tongue and throat. It seems, I did not choose my drink menu wrong this time. Everything I ordered at this Hilande Koffie Cafe was perfect.
