Sarma - stuffed is cabbage favourite meal in cold winter days

My family members are sarma lovers. Sarma is traditional Serbian meal,usually made in cold winter days, you can eat it for a long period of time, because every new day it have beautiful taste , and every day the taste is better . When we make sarmas we make so many sarmas, because all of us love eating them,at least 3 sarmas for a meal, each of us.
The main ingredients are sour cabbage,minced meat,rice,pepper,onion,oil,bacon and salt.The most important is patience and hours of cooking.
Some people in Serbia prepare sour cabbage for different kinds of meals, so it is in the basement and they use it when needed. We have a flat and there is not a basement so I usually buy cabbage in the market.
Cabbage leaves are suffed with mixture of fried minced meat, half of meat is usually pork and the other half is beef,onion,rice and salt.The best rice is long grain and it is put uncooked in the mixture with meat.
Ingredients

1 large head cabbage
½ kg ground beef
½ kg ground pork
300 grams ground ham
1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
1 onion, chopped
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
water to cover

For one kilo of meat I use 300 grams of smoked bacon,

Choose one of the largest leaves from the cabbage and stuff and roll them with prepared meat.For each leaf use one tablespoon of meat.Make as many sarmas as possible.
In a big pot put cabbage leaves you have left and put them as the first layer.Place the sarma wraps,and put bacon whenever you can.Make several layers.Remaining cabbage leaves place on the top.Pour enough salted water to cover the cabbage.Cook it in the oven two hours or longer.

I like both sarma with meat and vegan sarma with only onion and rice.It is also delicious. We made it for Christmas Eve.
