Throwback to last year November when I had a precious rare trip to Singapore with my parents and sister, there was a day where we were loaded with food my our relatives.
Song Ha Bak Kut Teh Harbourfront Centre
Knowing that the 'Bak Kut Teh' at Kuala Lumpur where I stay is different from Singapore one, my cousin insisted to give us a treat of their famous Bak Kut Teh. 'Bak Kut Teh' is in Hokkien language meaning pork ribs in herbs soup. However, Singapore style is more towards pepper herbs than other roots or bark herbs. Let's!
Here we were there early at 11am because cousin said this place would be packed with tourist at noon time. Tourist usually dined here followed by a tour at Universal Studio.
True enough, when we reached, it was not packed yet. It was a really nice place with super good ambience.
Loving the souvenir display where tourist could buy them, loving the big wall photo too, depicting the origin Bak Kut Teh business at the street.
The menu was not exhaustive, making it easier for dish ordering.
Cousin ordered for each one of us a set consisted of one bowl of pork ribs soup, salted vegetables and dough fritters and a chrysanthemum tea.
On top of that, she added two bowls of liver soup, one bowl of pig's stomach and a plate of braised pork leg. Wow!!
When the food arrived, our eyes opened wide. Soooo many food! And cousin exclaimed, "As tourist, one must learn to expand his stomach." lol...
We ate to our satisfaction and it was so so delicious!!! I truly enjoyed every mouthful of it. The pork ribs were cooked until so soft, literally the meat would drop out of the bones once being lifted up. The pepperish soup was so good for the throat and soul. Haha!
By the time we finished eating, the whole place was extremely crowded with tourists and many more incoming guests queueing outside. W
To be an understanding tourists from Malaysia, we quickly gobbled our remainder food and drink and made our way out.
Group photo of us!!!
Toast at Ya Kun!
Then, my Aunt said let's had a toast. Our eyes opened even wider. And she reiterated that we must expand our stomach. Lol...
Ya Kun Kaya is another famous eatery at Singapore, famous for their own-made kaya (coconut egg jam) and also their own factory which made healthy bread toast.
My Aunt herself did not eat anything but ordered for us each one set of toast, softboiled egg and a cup of coffee. Haha, we actually needed to wait about 45 minutes only able to eat those toast.
Fast forward till today, my Aunt whom is my father's oldest sister still keeps telling him that she misses us and hope we can go to Singapore again the end of this year. She says we literally brightens up her retired life!
What a treat to be able to try so many new foods!
