There is a new cafe in our area that has just opened up, and it always looks busy every time we pass by. I did some research online and found out that this is their second store. The first one in Rooty Hill seems to be very popular and their food and drink looks absolutely amazing. Last weekend is a free and lazy weekend for us. We woke up late and didn't have any plan to go anywhere so we decided to go to support this new small business which is only a few minutes away from our apartment.
As you may already know, Australia has a well-known coffee culture. I've heard some people say "You can taste the best coffee in the world in Australia". Well, I will not say it's right or wrong because that is their personal opinions. The truth is that Australian coffee trees aren't even grown in Australia; all of them are imported, but the way Australians have made it into a huge business recognized overseas really stands out. Coffee was first introduced to Australian by immigrants in the 1920s. In Australia, coffee is not just a drink, but a lifestyle. Instead of drinking a cup of coffee at home, people here really like
to walk to a close by cafe' to order a quality espresso and sit down to enjoy it. Throughout Australia, most of the cafes are owned by locals, and many franchise coffee companies have failed to penetrate this market. Each local store has its unique style, and customers are looking for quality ingredients, flavors, and aromas. It obviously makes a huge difference to the taste and quality.
Urban Jungle Café is a unique cafe with a cool idea from the owner, with their slogan "Food its in our blood" and their hash tag "#staywild". Their ingredients are selective and very fresh. Located at level 1 Westfield shopping mall, just a walking distance from the Parramatta train station, the shop looks cozy and green with jungle themes, a water feature, live plants and flowers.
We ordered the Jungle Brekky to share. It's a very large portion and I couldn't finish it by myself. So we shared it with each other and I think it made perfect sense. The Brekky contains poach eggs, sourdough toast, grilled halloumi, roasted tomato, sujik sausage, smokey bacon, crispy potatoes, labneh, smashed avo, house dukkah & tomato chilli jam. I really appreciate the way they decorate the dish, as the Vietnamese people tend to focus more on the quality of their food than its appearance. As long as the dish/bowl taste great, we don't really care about the decoration. But here in Australia, it's different, the food is always beautifully presented and meticulously decorated by the chef. The dish does not need to be elaborate and complicated, but the appearance must be beautiful.
For the drink, I ordered the Pink Lemonade, Lychee & Rose Tea and my partner got the big size Latte for him. Since I first saw the drink served, I've fallen in love. It's a good combination of soda, tea and lychee. The flavor is lychee inspired, it's light and not too sweet, exactly what I like. The coffee also tasted great and had a gorgeous art. I'm allergic to caffeine so I didn't try it but my partner said their barista did a great job in making the coffee.
It was a great experience hanging out for a morning coffee in our nearby area. We found it's also a good way to support small business during this tough time. Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you have a week full of energy and joy!
