To make instant rava uttapam, you will need a few basic ingredients and follow these simple steps:

  • 1 cup semolina (rava or sooji)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt (curd)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers (capsicum)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking
  1. In a mixing bowl, add semolina, yogurt, and salt. Mix well to combine and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. The semolina will absorb the yogurt and become slightly soft.

  2. After resting, add water gradually to the semolina mixture to make a batter. The consistency should be thick but pourable. Mix well to remove any lumps.

  3. Now, add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, green chili (if using), cumin seeds, and coriander leaves to the batter. Mix everything together until well combined.

  4. Heat a non-stick pan or a tawa on medium heat. Grease it lightly with oil.

  5. Take a ladleful of the batter and pour it onto the center of the hot pan. Spread it gently in a circular motion to form a thick pancake-like uttapam.

  6. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and on the top of the uttapam. Cook on medium heat until the bottom side turns golden brown.

  7. Flip the uttapam using a spatula and cook the other side until it becomes golden brown as well.

  8. Once both sides are cooked and crispy, transfer the uttapam to a serving plate.

  9. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more uttapams.

  10. Serve the instant rava uttapam hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or any other chutney of your choice.

Enjoy your homemade instant rava uttapam!
