Kuching Trip Day 5: Eating More Hometown Food!

I think by now you may have realized that we have eaten a lot of food but there is still more, I am so sorry if I have bored you with too many food posts. I AM TRYING TO DOCUMENT EVERYTHING I missed in the past 2.5 years and remember them in my posts hehe.

Slower Day 5

Day 5 appeared to be going slower for us as we had been out and about. The children needed some breaks and slower time so we decided to stay home and had pool time again. This time the aunt who is my sister came with a bubble toy so it created some more excitement.

I bet the boys had a blast. After all, we wanted to have more time for bonding and play time!

Packing Lunch Home

After some screams and shrieks of excitement, I went out with my mum to pack lunch home. We went to this place called Sing Garden. Well no one was literally singing here but the name takes after the residential area here named Hui Sing Garden. The variety of food stalls made me did not know what to order and perhaps I did order a bit more.

The 'Dien Bien Hu'. It is a Foo Chow food made of flat rice pieces, served in white pepperish gravy cooked with some black fungus and pork balls. Oh my gosh, I love it and it has been one of the food I have been wanting to eat before I got back.

Red wine 'mee sua'. The Foo Chows are famous with their own fermented red wine and they cook chicken soup with it. They they drop in rice vermicelli that is really fine and smooth in texture.

Bought Tomato Kueh Tiaw which is flat noodles cooked in ketchup gravy for my dad.

Dinner Last Night at Heritage Restaurant

Last night, we had another round of feasting in a Chinese restaurant called Heritage which is apparently famous for their mango duck dish. My husband has been so impressed in his previous visits to Kuching about the mango slice that pairs perfectly with roasted duck so my parents decided to take us to a restaurant serving it.

This was our first eat out with my parents and sister's family. Group photo was always chaotic as not every child would cooperate or be in the right mood for it. So this was the best we could achieve hehe.

While waiting for food to be served....

First dish was stir fried french beans. It was alright but we were trying to figure out why the french beans looked like long beans instead.

Next was the fish lip in egg drop soup. This was delicious. We usually will drip in some black vinegar to enhance the taste even more.

Then came Mango duck!!!!! It was really good and I love the thoughfulness of them dicing the duck meat because I don't really like to eat duck meat. This was exceptionally surprising for me! Love it!

Followed by steamed chicken with some vegetables and ham.

This was sweet and sour fish slices.

Mixed vegetables which was easier for children to eat and have their daily vegetable intake.

I ordered this boneless chicken with onion rings which turned out to be nothing of what I expected. I was worried that it might be spicy for the children but it wasn't so thank God.

As much as I love the food we have been eating, I love the precious family time too bonding with the family.
