Hello foodies! Today I'd like to share a pretty quick and easy way to cook a tasty omlette which will step a little bit away from the common one that most likely many of us are used to eat.
This is actually the way my boyfriend cooks omlette because I used to make it only with cheese and then let it in the frying pan until it was getting a solid composition and have it like a pizza which then everyone cuts slices from it. I was liking that version too but unfortunately I was always ending up adding too much oil and instead of having a tasty and healthy breakfast I was actually eating a pretty unsavory omlette with too much oil in its composition.
Happily, there are plenty of recipes on how to cook omlette and I'm sure you will find one to like the best! But until then, here's how I am cooking omlette now. 😊
- 4 eggs
- 3Tbs oil
- 1 medium onion
- 1 big capsicum
- 150g cheese
- 3tbs dill
- 1tbs pepper
- optional: extra spices, sausages, ham, mushrooms, potatoes, etc
I firstly cut in small pieces the capsicum and onion which then I added into the frying pan and left on low heat mixing from time to time so the vegetables won't burn.
If you also want to add other vegetables, ham, sausages or mushrooms, you can add them over the vegetables and heat them on low heat together.
While the vegetables were under making, I started beating eggs where then I added the grated cheese and spices over, and mixed again.
I usually add 2 eggs for each person, so if for example there are 2 people eating omlette, then I'll have it made from 4 eggs. If it seems like too much, you can leave only three and add 50ml of milk.
I usually don't like cooking the vegetables too much but only until they become soft and the onion change its colour to yellowish.
As soon as the vegetables get to the desired stage of cooking, you can add over the composition prepared before with the eggs, cheese and spices which then you should mix so the vegetables will be in the whole new composition.
Here's the stage when perhaps most of the people will let everything in the frying pan until it gets a solid form and then turn it to the other side.
Personally, I like mixing everytime from now until it's ready just to make sure that every single element of the omlette is well cooked, and serve it more like an usual mixed dish instead of cut it in more slices which often absorb a lot of oil.
On my end it takes around 5 minutes on medium heat and then it's ready to be served but it really depends on how you like eating an omlette because there is that stage between soft omlette and this one which turns out more cooked, but you should pay attention to keep it on fire until there is no liquid anymore in the frying pan.
This is the colour and stage I consider my omlette as being ready to be served.
I usually like eating this one next to fresh tomatoes, toast, and a glass of hot chocolate, but you can also add the tomato while cooking the capsicum and onion on low heat.
What do you usually add in your omlette? And how are you cooking it?

I really like your Omelette. There are many styles for everyone to make such a yummy Omelette. I usually add green chillies, just chop them finely and add to the egg batter. Grated carrots would taste great too, so you can mix and match and come up with many combinations. Either way the omelette tastes great.
That's awesome! Never thought about adding carrots but I'll try it next time 😉
Absolutely. Omlette is perhaps one of the dishes that everyone cooks differently and where you can add anything you like in its composition.
That look delicious , i will try it for morning breakfast
I can guarantee it was VERY tasty! 😉
