Tofu is the kind of food I didn’t fancy as a kid, but I began to love it as I grew older. Now, it has become one of my favorite foods.
I guess maturity plays an important role in this change. As we get older, we become more aware of what foods are healthy for us and make conscious decisions about our choices. It may not be the case for everyone, but for me, it matters what I put in my body and the quality of nutrition it provides.
And that's what I had for lunch: a nice slab of tofu that was slightly deep-fried and then sautéed with other delicious ingredients. The texture of deep-fried tofu is particularly appealing because the exterior remains firm while the inside stays soft and creamy. This type of tofu has an interesting texture, being slightly solid and somewhat gelatinous. Meanwhile, the skin absorbs the flavor of the sauce and seasonings. It also helps that the chef added minced pork, green beans, and mushrooms, which made the dish tastier and more nutritious.
The other dishes I ordered were sautéed pork strips and scrambled eggs. The combination of these three dishes was very filling and satisfying. I enjoyed every bit of the flavors from the different dishes.
One of the dishes was scrambled eggs. The amount of onions the chef added made the dish taste sweeter. I love the type of onions used in this dish. They don't have a strong aroma or flavor but add a nice texture, crunch, and sweetness.
I would definitely come back to enjoy this type of egg dish again soon.
The hawker food stall that I went to is the Original Taste food stall at Crawford Lane. There is a long queue every day at lunch time!
Wow, so many delicious things. I've never tried tofu, but would love to. It looks very appetizing and also you could eat it without remorse, what could be better than that.
Tofu is incredibly versatile and can be a delightful addition to many dishes, so definitely give it a try, it's as tasty as it is guilt-free!
I also didn't like tofu before but I love it already! Your lunch looks delicious. I hope you enjoyed your lunch
Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear you've come around to tofu. It's amazing how tastes can change over time!
Wow, this looks very delicious, the appearance of tofu is very tempting, but my appetite is restrained by eggs because I don't like eggs.
Thank you! It's great to hear you find the tofu tempting; maybe you could try it without eggs to see if it suits your taste :)
That's tasty and nutritious indeed. I have tried the deeply fried tofu and like it. It's known substitute for meat here in our local area when you're in a diet.
I love eating at economy mixed rice too, our "cai fan" due to variety of dishes to choose from and not expensive. If I'm not cooking, I will pack from stalls like this. Tofu — 100% must add. 🙂 I see that you are at Singapore. I'm at Malaysia and we have so many mixed rice shops here as well. Your plate of food looks so delicious and nutritious.
What a big piece of tofu, I learn to appreciate tofu now the first time I try it I dislike it a lot now I see there are many ways of cooking tofu and can be very tasty 😋
Hahaha same with this one, I don't know why but I also love his food as I grow older, especially when it is mixed with sauce and some flavores
Interesting food. Thanks for sharing this.
