Breakfast at Blue Mango

in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago (edited)

In the once-bustling road of Panagsama Beach in Moalboal, a small diving village in southern Cebu, a restaurant named Blue Mango bravely started its construction while the rest of the restaurants closed one after another during the quarantine period last year.

Day in day out on our way to the beach, we watched the building slowly take shape while the rest of the foreign ex-pat population receded. Each time we passed the boarded construction site, I mentally applauded the owners and investors for courageously taking the leap to continue and complete this project.

The restaurant finally launched and opened its doors early this year.

Residents in Moalboal flocked to see the new posh nightlife destination. At night, it's an active club scene for bachelors and bachelorettes, and for family-friendly residents like ourselves, we just watched it from a distance and were content to listen to mixed reviews from friends and acquaintances.

Blue Mango Bar- Restaurant is open daily until 10pm.

Last weekend, a neighbor highly recommended their Eggs Benedict with bacon for breakfast. This piqued our curiosity. Why not?

To kickstart the weekend, @iamyohann and I went to Blue Mango for the first time.

It was empty when we arrived but customers came in not long after I finished taking photographs.

Two billiard tables occupied the rear part of the dining area where weekly tournaments are held every Wednesday. The colorful mural made by a local artist created a vibrant atmosphere and this sitting area gets busy at night.

Isn't this lovely? The poached eggs sit perfectly on top of the bacon and sourdough bread, glazed with hollandaise sauce. It was accompanied by a potato salad. The dish costs USD$ 6 (Php 298). Our neighbor is right about how delicious this is.

It doesn't come with coffee so I ordered a Hot Americano USD$ 1.6 (Php 80) which tasted better than I expected.

The breakfast portion is small. If you're one of those who live by the saying "eat breakfast like a king", you'd have to order more dishes to adhere to that.

I went there with an open mind solely for the taste and I left with a fully satiated palate.

I'm glad we tried it and I must say I don't mind coming back for another breakfast at Blue Mango.

Thank you for reading and greetings from Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines! Have a lovely weekend!

Hello Arni! that plate looks delicious. And the name of the place is very curious 😉 in my house I have a mago tree. Have you tasted that fruit?

Hello Carlos, yes, I love mangoes. I'd have to ask the owner why it was named Blue Mango but I am assuming it is because mango is the national fruit of the Philippines and blue symbolizes the ocean close by. The sweetest mangoes can be found in the Visayan region where we are. Hence, a lot of dried mangoes are made and exported. It's cool that you have a mango tree at home. I'd be interested to try different mangoes in other countries.

Hello @anggreklestari and Foodies Bee Hive Team, thank you so much for this! Have a lovely weekend!

Hey @discoveringarni It's seems like truly a delight to visit this place. I bet as the situations are slowly turning to normal, soon this place will be full of people living and enjoying their time.
Have a cheerful weekend:)

Hi Sahiba, it was nice. The place is a lot busier at night especially on the weekends filled with foreign residents and locals from the city. We're not the party club type anymore, so I guess we're happier to go there during the day. :) Thank you, wishing you a wonderful weekend as well!

That looks delicious and the restaurant looks nice as well. I like the colors. I find that eggs Benedict always comes in a small portion size. Its one of those dishes that seems to go for quality over quantity. I don't get it often but it's probably one of my favorite breakfast foods. That version looks really good.

It's good that the restaurant survived and made it through the covid craziness.

Indeed, only a few restaurants are operational in our area.

I have always wanted to try and learn how to make the perfect Eggs Benedict. Same here, whenever it's available on the menu, would go for this unless shakshouka is present. You got that right- "quality over quantity. Have a lovely weekend!

Oh wow, awesome thanks @curie!

Hello Arni. A restaurant/leisure bar like Blue Mango is one of the best business investments in a seaside town like Moalboal. Now that tourism is starting to open up its doors after a long while, it's definitely an ideal hangout place for tourists and locals alike. It's a big delight that you were able to savor the start of your weekend there. Keep smiling! 😊

Hi @storiesoferne Erne, I can't believe I missed this, my deepest apologies. Tourism is slowly starting to open up. There's another establishment that opened up not far from this so I believe that's a good sign?
