Chow Mein Magic
Hello friends today, we're making quick and tasty chowmein. It's packed with fresh veggies, springy noodles, and a light sauce that's bursting with flavour. this recipe uses what you might already have in your kitchen!
Here's what you'll need:
- Noodles: Any kind of noodles will work, but chow mein traditionally uses egg noodles. You can also use rice noodles or whatever you want to.
- Veggies: We'll be using a colourful mix of cabbage, onion, capsicum (bell pepper), and carrot. Feel free to add other veggies you like, such as broccoli, snow peas, or mushrooms.
- Sauce: We're keeping it simple with just tomato sauce, black pepper, and a splash of water (optional). You can add a pinch of sugar or soy sauce for a little extra something.
- Oil: To cook everything up!
Let's get cooking!
Boil the Noodles: Follow the package instructions to cook your noodles. While they're boiling, get chopping!
Chop, Chop, Chop!: Slice your cabbage, onion, capsicum, and carrot into thin strips. Aim for them to be roughly the same size so they cook evenly.
Stir-Fry Time! Heat some oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once it's hot, add your chopped veggies. Stir-fry them for a few minutes until they start to soften but still have a nice crunch.
Noodle Party! Add your cooked noodles to the pan and toss everything together.
Sauce It Up! Now comes the flavor! Pour in your tomato sauce and black pepper. Give it a good stir to coat the noodles and veggies. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a splash of water to loosen it up.
Taste Test! Before you serve, take a little taste. If it needs a bit more sweetness, add a pinch of sugar. If you prefer a saltier flavour, try a touch of soy sauce. Adjust the seasonings to your liking.
Chow Time! Dish up your delicious chow mein and enjoy! You can garnish it with some chopped green onions or cilantro for a pop of freshness.
very delicious, I love the combination of those vegetables together.
