I'm not your typical westerner I guess, lol. I traveled a lot due to being in the armed forces and have been introduced to many cuisines. Also have dated a few non westerners. Now that doesn't mean I have tried everything because I have certainly not.

My ultimate test on westerners' acceptance of Asian food is chicken feet 😉, not sure if you've had that before, it's a popular dim sum at Chinese restauranrs. When I used to work in Hong Kong, whenever we had overseas visitors or colleagues, we'd always take them for dim sum lunch and order chicken feet. Over the years only one guy from Australia tried them, and thought it was ok. Everyone else refused to try it. Those were fun days!!
Chicken feet and gizzards I have had. Now Like balut I haven't tried but would I dont get why the feet is a big deal though, lol
Gizzards are nice, but balut I can't handle. I eat raw fish like sashimi, or beef tartare and dont' even mind my steak blue, but the sight of bits of blood vein and feathers and the slurppy texture puts me off.
As to the infamous chicken feet! Well, it's more for a nibble, a bit like chewing gum (I believe you guys call it bubbly gum), expect it has a lot more flavour ^_^
Now that you described balut some I'm ready for it, lol. Actually now you mention feathers and slurpy you have turned me off. Yes sushi and sashimi are good. I actually trade a friend who owns a sushi and hibachi grill with fresh fish.
