They say ‘tiger bread’ is quite a strange name, right? It’s currently very hyped among bread and pastiserid lovers in Indonesia, a bread that is famous for its different taste. There are many people queuing to get this bread, they say this bread has a different taste from the others. I became curious.
It’s quite difficult to get it here, because there is not a single bakery that sells it, even then only a few home bakers sell it and sometimes it’s difficult to get because it’s sold with a pre-order system. It makes me very lazy to wait so I learn to make it. I’ve made bread and the taste is no less than the bread sold in bakeries.
Just have the following ingredients:
The Ingredients:
- 375 gr high protein bread flour
- 250 ml liquid milk (I mix it with a little whipped cream to make it thick)
- 5 gr sugar
- 6 gr instant yeast
- 1 egg
- 40 gr butter
- Flax seed and cranberry
- 1 block of spread or cheddar cheese
If you have the above ingredients then you can make the most delicious bread right now. the steps are not that difficult and certainly without kneading hard. Just let it rest in the refrigerator overnight, at least 8 hours. If you want to try this recipe soon, please kindly check my post below.
The first time, I warmed the milk but only until it was lukewarm, no more than that. Then I weighed some flour so that it was easy to knead afterwards. Well, mixing warm milk with sugar and instant yeast for the first time, makes the instant yeast active with the sign that the yeast finally expands.
After expanding, then after that you have to mix it with flour, eggs and butter. Knead until slightly elastic or just knead for 10-15 minutes, using your hands.
Let the dough rest and wait for 1 hour. Then deflate it and knead again using your hands for 1 minute. Cover the surface with a clean and soft cloth. Store in the refrigerator overnight, later the dough will expand very well and can even be 3 times its original size.
In the morning, I took it and mix it with cranberries and flax seed. This is the first time I have try making something like this. Well, after being form and fill with cheese, the next step is to rest the dough for 30-45 minutes, until it expand.
Prepare an oven that has been heat to a temperature of 150 degrees Celsius. Then put it in the oven and bake for 20 minutes and your tiger bread will be ready to eat when the bread starts to cool.
