Foodie series #01: Refreshing stop at Cooee Tribe | Cebu, PH

Heyah foodies!

How are you? It’s already June and it's funny how many things we wanna do in a year but ended up doing less. But it’s okay though. As quoted by Tony Robbins, “Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in two or three decades”. I guess it’s one step at a time, slowing down and gradual growth is all that matters so we can enjoy every bit of it with no pressure. One of the things that I wanna do this year is to achieve healthy living by making healthy options especially when it comes to food.

So on my day-offs, I always wanted to be refreshed and eat something new and healthy. My boyfriend and I have this kind of food trip adventure to try as many local foods as we can. We looked for a food place that has a refreshing ambiance and offers great and healthy food as we are planning to stay in the place longer. Since we’re from the south side of Cebu, we searched for nearby cafes and though the place isn't located along the highway, we gave it a try because it has amazing reviews upon checking their social media accounts. However, we also discovered that they have another branch in Cebu City that you might also love to visit.

THE HIDDEN TRIBE

This hidden tribe is located in Antara retail shop in Lawaan, Talisay City. At around 2 pm in the afternoon, we arrived in the corner streets of Yahay Foodpark (which is still temporarily closed) in Talisay City, Cebu. We just relied on google maps to give us the right directions. But guess what!? It’s actually just very near to the highway. It’s a Sunday afternoon and we were expecting there could be a lot of people. To our surprise, we were surprised. Haha! There are only a few people and the place is just what we are looking for. Refreshing, calm, and chill.

TROPICAL VIBES

Upon entering the place, you’ll surely feel the tropical vibes inside the Cooee Tribe. It feels like you’re somewhere near the countryside because of its warm and light ambiance! Wooden chairs and raw concrete finish adds to the vibes. It's like you’re really part of the tribe.

The place is not actually ideal for huge gatherings but a great place for me-time, study, work, and small group dates. They even have available cool apparels that you can check. Although the area is limited, I love the details they put in every corner. I mean look at those aesthetic corners!

HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS

Now, the exciting and challenging part- choosing what to order. Looking at their menu, I was already amazed and delighted to see healthy options to eat. There’s actually a lot! They offer rice bowls, waffles, yogurt bowls, smoothie bowls, poke pockets, and sandwiches. If you only need something to drink, there are also detox shots, coffees, and fruit shakes available. But if you have a sweet tooth, you can also try their desserts and snacks. You can check their menu here.

Everything is just worth trying. As for me, I ordered the Ohana Bowl which costs Php 278.00 (5.31 USD), which is not bad! The bowl serving is actually huge. Ohana bowl was super delicious in all honesty. It is a fusion of avocado + salmon sashimi combo mixed with carrots, cucumber, white onions, and cherry tomatoes served with salad or rice as the base. Maybe I finished eating this after 2 hours and I never ate dinner when I got home because I was really full and satisfied. I partnered my ohana bowl with an avocado fruit shake and we’re very lucky to avail of their buy-one-take-one promo. So I highly recommend this!

My boyfriend, who is not that hungry, ordered their Ham and cheese Panini sandwich with chips that costs Php 148.00 (2.82 USD) and partnered with an avocado fruit shake. When I asked him if it was worth it, he was very honest to say “it’s like a normal sandwich”. We just both smiled and continued eating. Will we order this again? I bet not, maybe we’ll stick to their smoothie and yogurt bowls next time.

Overall, we had a refreshing stop at the Cooee Tribe and we’ll definitely visit this again soon. If you’re someone who wants to relax and chill without going too far, this is the perfect place for you. If you’re still busy and can't go yet, but you wanna eat healthy goodies they are also available thru grab food and food panda.
