Trying Out A Japanese Street Restaurant for the First Time: Sukidesu Modern Japanese Cuisine in The Philippines

IMG_20230808_155154.png

It is so an unusual of me to try a different food restaurant, since I am that kind of person who just wants to eat in a food restaurant that is widely known by everyone. Not until someone recommended this to me to try this kind of cuisine and I was glad that I tried this, because of how yummy the foods were; and just to let you know that this was just recently added to my restaurant options.

This was my first time to taste a Japanese Cuisine that has a lot of food options that I never had the chance to taste in my whole 20th year of existence, but that very time was the only chance for me to taste it and it was also a stepping stone in choosing an unusual foods properly that obviously not a Filipino Specialty. I was just more than glad that someone offered me this once in a million chance and it was also a special treat that I will never forget.

So come with me and I'll bring you in this modern cuisine and to know more what this store has to offer, and I bet that you will surely want to try here soon...

The Sukidesu View

This was the view of store when I was there. It was really a street dining restaurant, since it is not the usual Japanese restaurants that are inside in the mall, but this was just located by the street. This spot is located at Climaco St. Cebu City and I think this is the only store here in Cebu. Over-all, it was just really giving a simple Japan vibes and that is what I love about this store.

The Inside View

These were the customers when we entered this store. There were just few because I think it was almost 10 pm and yet they were still open at that time and that was also what I love about this store because if you feel hungry, you can just rush here immediately.

After ordering what we wanted, I really explored what was inside in this Japanese store even if it was quite embarassing. Nevertheless, it was just that I love the simple vibe inside and that was why I took a lot of pictures inside.

As you can see, the crew was eating that time, so it was obviously late in the evening; and yet they were still accepting customers at that time. Also, I was very amazed how dedicated they were in their respective designation and that was also one of the reasons why I love visiting this store again.

This was the last picture I took inside because our order already arrived that time. If you would ask why I took this picture, it was because I found it cute and very pleasing to look at.

And then our order arrives...

Digong Maki

received_797168605285879.jpeg

This was the Digong Maki that we ordered and it costs $3.28 or ₱180. I don't know how to explain this, but are you familiar with sushi? And yes, Maki is the old and other term of sushi and about my unbiased review, it was really delicious and worth the try.

Beef Gyudon, California Maki, and Tonkatsu

IMG_20230808_131149.jpg

The left side part was the Beef Gyudon that costs $3.46 or ₱190. The California Maki was the center part that costs $2.73 or ₱150, lastly the Tonkatsu was on the right side costs $2.46 or ₱135. It was the great taste of the 3 foods that made me want to come back again soon.

Ajitama Ramen and Prawn Tempura

IMG_20230808_131331.jpg

Ajitama Ramen was the one that has a soup and it costs $3.37 or ₱185, on the other hand, Prawn Tempura costs $2.75 or ₱145. These two dishes are also yummy, I also thought that I was in Japan because aside from the Japanese Food, the vibe inside was really Japan-giving.

Chicken Karaage

IMG_20230808_131320.jpg

This was the Chicken Karaage that we ordered. It may be just a simple chicken sliced dish, but tasting this was like heaven. I was happy that I chose the right food with the help from my aunt, of course. If I was alone in choosing this kind of foods, maybe I would end up crying the whole time because of its price and regrets of not choosing it well.

Some Insights and Realizations

The dishes I chose in this great restaurant really exceeded beyond my expectations and I could not compare it yet from other restaurants that have these kind of foods, since I just tasted one Japan Cuisine; and we all know that there are still other Japanese Restaurant out there that could offer mouth-watering foods like this one, but if we talked about price, I think this is the number one option to choose from knowing it is a Japanese Restaurant, an expensive one.

Lastly, this opportunity made me realized that I could just able to eat food like this if I worked hard knowing I couldn't afford this yet, but I was more than thankful to my aunt who introduced me to this unusual and expensive food. Nevertheless, it was one of the reasons why I need to work hard in order for me to repay the kindness from everyone who helped me just by paying it forward to others in God's grace and will.
