Bakchoy With Soy Sauce and Baked Potatoes

Nothing beats the enjoyment of simple comfort food.

There are times when we really only have ingredients that come from the garden. It became so delicious, even though served simply. Most importantly, the taste of the food offerings is close to us, comfortable on our tongues and in our memory.

I have potatoes and greens. For green vegetables, Bakchoy to be exact, I got them from my friend's garden for free. I feel very lucky.

In the previous post I have also shared the Bakchoy photoshoot. I hope you enjoy it. ️

This time I will share my dinner menu. I combine potatoes with bakchoy. You can also serve bakchoy with rice or noodles. Make a dish that is tailored to the comfort and habits of your tongue. But it doesn't matter if you want to make something different so you don't get bored.




Baked Potatoes

Before cooking bakchoy, we prepare baked potatoes to save time. So, while waiting for the potatoes to cook, we will prepare bakchoy with soy sauce.

Clean the potatoes. Here I used two small potatoes. Don't forget to preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius.

Then, slice the potatoes. Here I sliced ​​the potatoes into rounds. You can also cut potatoes in other shapes.

When finished slicing the potatoes, coat the potatoes with vegetable oil. For my recipe here, I used olive oil.

Bake potatoes for about 60 minutes. I flipped the potatoes at the 30th minute.




Stir-fried Bakchoy With Soy Sauce

While waiting for the potatoes to bake, it's time to prepare the bakchoy. Slice the bakchoy in half.

Here I do not remove the bakchoy leaves one by one so that the final texture remains good and not too mushy.

Prepare the chopped garlic. You can also add onion if you want.

Boil water with salt. Bleaching bakchoy for about a minute.

Prepare ice water. Then remove the bakchoy and transfer it to ice water. This method is to keep the color of the vegetables nice. Vegetables can also last longer to store.

Then drain on towels before cooking with soy sauce.

Stir-fry chopped garlic and onion until fragrant. Don't forget to add seasoning.

Add soy sauce. Here I use sweet soy sauce. Sometimes in the market you will find salty soy sauce. It is okay. If using salty soy sauce, be careful not to use any more salt to avoid over-salting.

Add bakchoy. Then cook for a while. Don't forget to flip the bakchoy so that it is evenly distributed.




Remove stir-fried bakchoy, then serve with accompaniments. I served stir-fried backhoy with baked potatoes that I made earlier.

Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. Then ready to be served for dinner. Yummy!!!

Bakchoy is just so versatile. I like have it simple, stir fry with soy sauce. Baked potatoes is good idea !
