Hello, foodies of Hive. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I want to share a speck of my life as I go to an old restaurant I used to visit frequently with my friends but this time I had the pleasure of visiting this place with brand new people.
So, along with the food, I shall review them as well XD.
In early December, I made a few new friends at a course at my Varsity. They were a sweet and approachable bunch, but after meeting them a few times, I realized their friends were a bit too extreme for me.
The Plan
This sweet lady asked me out for a little dine-in at a restaurant after the semester's final was over. I was unsure if it would be safe for both of us since the country's state was not good. But I decided to go since many people were out there, hoping not to get robbed. our initial eating spot was at Madchef, a restaurant specializing in burgers.
The Day
I was a bit worried about presenting myself, but I kept things casual. I low-key wanted to bring a bar of chocolate or flowers as a surprise, but I was afraid she would not like it since she had said not to bring anything. What I learned later was that there was going to be a friend of hers who would join us shortly. And then I found out it was a guy friend of hers. He was supposed to guide us to our initial spot but found out later that the place was not there. So, I asked to go to a nearby food joint that served the best rice meals.
It was empty. No one was around except for the staff. I thought it was perfect and seized the opportunity to talk to her and her friend while our food was being prepared.
Moments later, our food arrived and boy was it filling. At a price of approximately $1.99, this meal is a dream for most students who want a sumptuous budget-friendly meal. As for the beverages, we all got Sprite.
This dish's name is Chicken and Black Pepper. A simple yet mouth-watering sensation sweeps through your nose the moment you smell this delectable meal.
While we chatted nicely and poked fun at how her friend was still single. We talked about our future aspirations and other mundane topics before finally talking about the state of our country and how would come to power.
This is also where I learned that she and her friends were active participants in the recent student protests... like me. I joined the official Bangladesh 2.0 thanks to @ophibious but they were no small fry, they also met with big political figures and had meetings with the Bashundhara Group, NSU Authorities, and other groups making them semi-popular in the student body. They also had the opportunity to be Shommonoyok, a title given to those who would serve under the Interim Government with some political status until the General Election is conducted again.
His friend was pretty chill at first but then I noticed a few signs that he was either irritating or plain stupid. Regardless, he was a chill dude.
And to end the day, we took a small pic to commemorate the day. She was quite fun and lovely and the way she talked was something I'm not about to forget for some time. She also allowed me to take this image only as it does not fully show her... a bit shy yes.
Regardless, afterward, we headed toward our home, which is in the same direction(fortunately), while her friend had to go in the other direction. That way, I got to spend a little more time with her. And that's when I realized I should've bought a chocolate or flower... stupid of me.
And, that's how the day went by. With a hint of regret and filled with compassion, I prayed to god asking if she was the one...
