Hunter Biden has been convicted of federal fun crimes, and faces sentencing soon. Hunter was on trial for gun background issues, and his addiction to substances has been a factor in this conviction.
President Biden has been quoted as saying that he will not pardon his son. If Biden were to pardon his son it would look very bad for his campaign. Any father would want to save his son from conviction, but there comes a time when a child must face the consequences of their actions. Hunter could face 25 years in jail and a $750,000 fine but this is incredibly unlikely due to this being his first offense. It is more likely he would receive a suspended sentence and probation.
This levels the playing field for Trump in the coming election. Donald Trump was convicted of criminal action and can now call Biden on his son's actions. Trump's campaign released a statement about Hunter's conviction supporting the second amendment and proposing help for Hunter when Trump becomes president.
