The power of Banisteriopsis Caapi // El poder de Banisteriopsis Caapi

Hi guys, this time I want to share a very interesting Post about a liana that is native from South America, more properly Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, it is called Banisteriopsis Caapi and it is incredible!

I have been sharing and consuming it for 5 years, and it has generated a 180 degree change in my state of health, mental and spirituality. It has also changed my vision of the world, and of how wide and complex plants are and their connection to sacred indigenous rituals, which for centuries, for educational, cultural and colonial reasons, they tried to erased them from the map so we transform into slaves and ignorants.

To make this story more digestible, I explain everything it contains.

Hola muchachos en esta ocasión quiero compartirles un Post muy interesante acerca de una liana que es nativa de Sudamérica, mas propiamente de Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brasil, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela, se llama Banisteriopsis Caapi y es increíble!.

Tengo 5 años compartiendola y consumiendola, y ha generado un cambio de 180 grados en mi estado de salud, mental y espiritual. Tambien ha cambiado mi visión del mundo, y de lo amplio y complejo que son las plantas y su conexión con los rituales sagrados indígenas, que por cuestiones educativas, culturales, y coloniales desde hace siglos intentaron borrar del mapa para que fueramos esclavos e ignorantes.

Para hacer mas digerible de que se trata esta liana les explico todo lo que contiene.

This vine has several names including ayahuasca, parra ayahuasca, caapi, yagugue, jagube, mariri, pildé, bejuco de oro, biaxa, boa, parra boa, dapa, doctor, kahi, maridi, mihí, natema, nepe, pinde, totenliana or vine of death. In botany it comes from the genus Banisteriopsis, and from the Malpiguiáceas family, all of them trees, shrubs or vines.

This vine is very close to one that comes from the wines due their shape. It is of considerable size with long, strong branches with round, green, and pointed leaves. It has a flower that has the possibility of reaching 14 cm, with petals that can be white or pink, although they do not flower much due to the conditions of the tropics. These flowers sprout more between March and August in the year.

Something very important to understand is that this vine is an entheogen, that means its cooking, preparation and subsequent consumption goes directly to the central nervous system and alters the time-space perception, as well as generates brain chemical reactions that allow a very rich interaction in the brain, especially if is mixed with other plants that generates the desired spiritual catharsis. This is what has been used from millennia by shamans and communities especially in the South American Amazon to raise awareness, cleanse and heal people, or simply to have a vision of reality, have wisdom, strengthen character and have spiritual maturity.

Esta liana tiene varios nombres entre ellos ayahuasca, parra ayahuasca, caapi, yagugue, jagube, mariri, pildé, bejuco de oro, biaxa, boa, parra boa, dapa, doctor, kahi, maridi, mihí, natema, nepe, pinde, totenliana o vino de la muerte. En botánica viene del género Banisteriopsis, y de la familia Malpiguiáceas, la totalidad de ellas árboles, arbustos o bejucos.

Esta liana es una parra, es decir que tiene parecido con la vid de donde salen los vinos por su forma. Tiene un tamaño considerable con ramas largas y fuertes con hojas redondas, verdes y puntiagudas. Tiene una flor que tiene la posibilidad de alcanzar 14 cm, con petalos que pueden tener color blanco o rosado, aunque no florecen mucho debido a las condiciones del trópico. Estas flores brotan mas que todo entre Marzo y Agosto en el año.

Algo muy importante de entender es que esta liana es un enteógeno, es decir que su cocción, preparación y posterior consumo va directo el sistema nervioso central y altera la percecpión espacio-tiempo, asi como genera reacciones químicas cerebrales que permiten una interacción muy rica y variada, sobretodo si se mezcla con otras plantas que genera la catarsis espiritual deseada. Esto es lo que se usa desde hace milenios por shamanes y comunidades en especial de la amazonía sudamericana para aumentar la conciencia, limpiar y sanar personas, o sencillamente para tener visión de la realidad, tener sabiduría, fortalacer el carácter y tener madurez espiritual.

The alkaloids that the plant has are Harmine and Tetrahydroharmine, which is an inhibitor of Monoamine Oxidase A (MAO-A), which is in charge of degrading monoamines. Monoamines include serotonin or dopamine transmitters, hormones like melatonin as well as visionary substances like psilocybin (fungi), or dimethyltryptamine (DMT). Resuming it, when consuming caapi, what happens is that the monoamines are not degraded, which in turn has antidepressant effects (serotonin, dopamine), and the activation of visionary substances such as DTM (ayahuasca, yopo).

Liana is a climbing shrub that can produce woody stems. It can reach a great length up to 30 meters long approximately. The plant also has the characteristic of climbing and climbing between walls and surfaces like a vine.

Ya conociendo los alcaloides que tiene la planta esta contiene Harmina y Tetrahidroharmina, la cual es una inhibidora de la Monoamina Oxidasa A (MAO-A) que es la que se encarga de degradar las monoaminas. Las monoaminas incluyen transmisores de serotonina o dopamina, hormonas como la melatonina asi como sustancias visionarias como psilocybina (hongos), o la dimetiltriptamina (DMT). Resumiendo coloquialmente al consumir caapi lo que que se genera es que no se degrada las monoaminas, que a su vez tiene efectos antidepreseivos (serotonina, dopamina), y la activación de sustancias visionarias como el DTM (ayahuasca, yopo).

La liana es un arbusto trepador que puede producir tallos leñosos. Puede alcanzar un gran largo hasta los 30 metros de largo aproximadamente. La planta ademas tiene la característica de subirse y trepar entre muros y superficies como enredadera.

Let's go more to the anthropological and spiritual part of the matter. In 2015 a cousin of mine named David invited me to some ceremonies of indigenous traditions where they gave Yagé, a word of Cofán ethnic people of the Colombian Putumayo to refer to the cooking of Caapi with the Chacruna plant, which contains DMT. It is a concoction that becomes thick when spending whole days cooking in the jungle by experienced people who give them the responsibility to pray and cook these two plants properly.

I managed to have that first experience after spending 3 years thinking about it because I was at a stage in my life, where I was only meditating and did not consume any substance, since in previous years I had tried many substances including chemicals and I realized based on my experience, that they gave me nothing, beyond a false feeling of pleasure and liberation.

At that moment when I had the drink my life changed, i had a super deep experience seeing animal beings, colored fractals, numbers, messages, but above all, having experienced what Buddhists call Nirvana; an empty and full space like the Universe itself, where I was in the same place with God. It was a totally illuminating experience, but it was also real, not something fictitious, nor artificial, and that hooked me to continue discovering and understanding this new way of life.

Here I show you a photo of my shaman Taita Uauajallarij Tisoy, from the Inga community of Putumayo. He gives yagé in the style of his ancestors as his father, his grandparents and ancestors taught him from generation to generation. Furthermore, I am a medical musician of him, that if you see in my Introduce Yourself it is the profession of accompanying the shaman harmonizing with the music to activate, balance and make more suitable the visionary experience of the entheogen in question.

Vamos mas a la parte antropológica y espiritual del asunto. En el año 2015 un primio mio llamado David me invita a unasm ceremonias de tradiciones indígenas donde daban Yagé, palabra de origen Cofán etnia del Putumayo colombiano para referirse a la cocción del Caapi con la planta Chacruna, que contiene DMT. Es un brebaje que se vuelve espeso al pasar días enteros cociendose en la selva por personas experimentadas que les dan la responsabilidad de rezar y cocinar adecuadamente estas dos plantas.

Yo logré tener esa primera experiencia despues de pasar 3 años pensandolo porque estaba en una etapa en mi vida, donde solo meditaba y no consumía ninguna sustancia, ya que en años anteriores habia probado muchas sustancias incluso químicas y me di cuenta en base a mi experiencia que no me aportaban nada, mas allá de una falsa sensación de placer y liberación.

En ese momento que tomé la bebida mi vida cambió, tuve una experiencia super profunda viendo seres animales, fractales de colores, números, mensajes, pero sobretodo haber experimentado lo que los budistas llaman el Nirvana, un espacio vacío y lleno como el Universo mismo, donde estaba en el mismo sitio con Dios, una experiencia totalmente iluminadora, pero tambioen era real no algo ficticio, ni artificial, y eso me enganchó para seguirm descubirndome y entendiendo esta nueva forma de vida.

Aqui les muestro una foto de mi chamán Taita Uauajallarij Tisoy, de la comunidad Inga del Putumayo. El da yagé al estilo de sus ancestros como le enseño su padre, el de sus abuelos y antepasados de generación a generación. Ademas soy músico medicina de el, que si ven en mi Introduce Yourself es la profesión de acompañar al shamán armonizando con la música para activar, equilibrar y hacer mas adecuada la experiencia visionaria del enteógeno en cuestión.

It is also important to highlight the immense contribution that my Venezuelan shaman cacique Rufino Pónare, giver of the Ñuá (colloquially called yopo) of the Piaroa ethnic group, Amazonas state, had. This medicine is incredible because the Ñuá seed comes from a tree called Anadenanthera peregrina, which contains DMT, bufotenina, and 5-MeO-DMT, which are not cooked with the Caapi they are prepared separately. Tambien es importante destacar el inmenso aporte que tuvo mi chamán venezolano cacique Rufino Pónare, dador de la Ñuá (coloquialmente llamada yopo) de la etnia Piaroa estado Amazonas. Esta medicina es increíble pues la semilla de la Ñuá viene de un árbol llamado Anadenanthera peregrina, la cual contiene DMT, bufotenina, y 5-MeO-DMT, que no se cocinan con el Caapi se preparan aparte. En el caso del Caapi se machuca y tritura para dejarla en trocitos como este que uso yo en la semana ya que se puede consumir sin ningun efecto secundario para la salud, de hecho no es adictivo, ni tóxico, es relajante, antidepresivo y una mezcla entre estimulante y sedante, una combinación bastante particular, y ademas es muy buena para controlar la diabetes. De verdad les recomiendo tener en sus casas si quieren saber como obtener me pueden consultar que aqui tengo a todas las personas que pueden ayudar.

Paralelamente a la preparación del Caapi para poder ingerirlo, bien se via trozos, polvo o té, se prepara la Ñuá, se sacan las semillas se tuesta al sol, se muele y se prepara al fuego con varias plantas adicionales como una tortilla. Al quedar bien cocida queda una galleta dura que en la ceremonia el chamán la parte, la pulveriza y crea el rapé o polvo de yopo que con la ayuda de un inhalador llamado Ñuaba, se ingiera por fosas nasales.

Hey bro, thanks for this beautiful post about one of the most sacred, amazing and teacher pant medicine, the caapi vine. I'm still working with it on traditional Yopo ceremonies, and I also have studies on its effect with DMT from the Jurema plant. Adiwa Chawarawa!
