It was a bit of a shock that her untimely death of Lily, the chihuahua princess we were fostering since almost 6 years, she was 9 years old. She had been left to us by my mom-in law who was ill of Alzheimer. She was admitted to a special clinic and Lily stayed with us ever since until about two and a half weeks ago.
Why Natural Medicine?
Animals in general are part of my natural medicine because they make me happy. This is also one reason why dogs are also brought to the patients in hospitals. I think everyone who has a dog or who loves animals could relate to this, dogs are a man´s true friend and they are very loyal to their owner. If we feel worried or ill, they comfort us. My rottweiler Ako (60 kilos)of 14 years was a very lovable rottie. I once got fever at 41°C and had been bedridden, Ako was worried so he simply jumped-up on my bed, licked my face and laid beside me and waited til the doc and the ambulance arrived. That was his way of saying that he will look after me.
What happened to Lily...
On May 22, the day after my birthday, I went food shopping and my husband called-up to say that Lily died some minutes ago. I hurried home shocked at the news and there I found her lifeless body on the sofa at home. I cuddled her only to find the real truth that she was really gone.
My husband walked her outside at the pathway intended for dog walks...it is not so far away from our house. In the course of their walk....Lily sacked her body and face on the ground and did not move. My husband called her but she did not move. So he picked-her up quickly and noticed that her eyes were wide open, so he shook and shook her only to find no reactions. She had been ok when they went out of the house, sniffing the pathway like any dog would. There was no hint whatsoever that something was wrong with her.
She did not have breathing problems except that she was sneezing sometimes. A month ago I brought her to the vet to have a tooth extraction and I mentioned the doc that she sometimes she´d have a peculiar seizure similar to an epileptic patient. She would simply laid on her back with legs up and
if that happened I simply took her in my arms and tap her breast and back and she would be ok after some seconds. The vet said she had to undergo heart examination and ultrasound but that didn´t happened anymore. We think that Lily had a heart attack or stroke, reason why she collapsed and died. We brought her to the vet for safekeeping in their cool room until cremation. She was finally cremated last Tuesday (June 2) and we brought her urn at home to rest in peace.
After the death of our rottie, we said that we won´t have a dog in the future, 8 years later, we fostered Lily because we didn´t want her to suffer in the animal rescue center. Thank God that she still enjoyed her years with us. We are so devastated til now..... but promised ourselves that we will be adopting an older rescue dog say of 5 years old, pamper that dog and let it enjoy the rest of its years.
I know how you feel, missing dear lily is somewhat painful but time will heal and you'll be okey soon. Hive on!
Thank you my friend.... Yes, life has to move on and I know that she is in peace now.
So sorry! Dogs are healers, by the love they give. Such a sad story. But I am glad you gave her such a loving home while you could.
Indeed, she suffered a lot in her younger years because my mom-in law started to have the alzheimer illness... the presence of the police in her home have been a shock to her... When one is sick with alzheimer, they don´t know what they are doing, so every time she was out on the street, the neighbors called the police and brought her back home.... that was when the time Lily saw police officers in dark uniform in their home. Glad she recovered from that while with us.... Thank you for visiting and fpr your lovely comment.
Condolence ate, I was crying while reading. Lily is gone.🥺😭
Thank you dong.... yes nakakaiyak talaga kasi biglaan...
I know that pain too well.
So sorry that you're going through it.
For her to go so swiftly, without prolonged suffering, if any...
Any other way - I think would have been harder on you both. She loves you.
I was somehow relieved that she did not suffer and it was swift. The only thing I am so sorry is that I was not with her. We had hoped that she would stay with us for more years... Thank you so much for your thoughts.
What beautiful eyes she had.Oh @mers - what a lovely ending to life you have given to Lily, when so many others would have sent her to an animal shelter. I'm glad she did not suffer and her time came quickly and easily.
Sending you a hug, especially for that last thought about fostering an older dog who needs love and shelter. Bless you. x
Thank you so much, appreciate your comments as well as the hug very much. She had a nice time with us but we didn´t expect she would be gone too soon. Yeah, we would have to choose whether we are fostering one from Spain or in the animal shelter here. There are so much dogs suffering in Andalusia and they are just being killed by the city admins. We will see in the days to come. Thanks once more and God bless you too my friend!

Appreciate the lovely support. Thank you so much.
Some people say you can know a human's soul based in how they treat animals... and you ARE such a beautiful being.
My condolences go to you. And it makes me happy somehow that she wasn't in pain nor suffered at all. Dying while your beloved human take you for a fun walk to spend some quality time together sounds good to me. ❤️
It was supposedly a fun walk, everytime she would would take her time to look around and sniff and sniff, then walk again.... We always had to walk her and I think she liked it. Thank you for the lovely thoughts.
Sad to hear about it. Condolences po. We recently lost our Yumi last month. She was staying at my brother in law's house for safekeeping as we used to live there before so she was comfortable there. It was sad to know that she died and not being able to go to her because we were trapped by the quarantine restriction. :(
Salamat! Oh I am sorry to hear about your Yumi. Fur friends are always special. it was just a pity that you didn´t see her for the last time. Thanks for visiting and for your thoughts at pakikiramay.
Salamat din. Thanks! It is difficult, but we are living in difficult times.
Thank you for giving Lily a good life.

campo. Some just died due to the heat in Summer , other dogs caught on the street are being killed by the city admins. My pleasure, thank you @artemislives... indeed, she had a good life, we saw to it. We are intending to foster an elderly dog from the shelter, the question is from where? Maybe one from Spain, as we live in Andalucia during winter times. The dogs there are so poor because some farmers leave their dogs in the
If we take a dog from shelters in Vienna, these are mostly abandoned by families because they are not cute anymore and have grown big... others in the shelter are those smuggled from Eastern Europe in the border ... the animals mostly dogs land in the shelter. The difference between spanish shelters and Austrian is the austrian shelters have private sponsors that are willing to give monthly financial support for the needs of the animals... whereas the spanish shelters lack these funds so the next thing they do is kill the animals. It is sad... I have many stories to tell about these poor dogs. I just do not understand why humans are so cruel to animals.
