Cassava is a natural crop to be very careful with. Many people die every year from cassava poisoning in my former home of Cambodia. This is mostly due to they cyanide content in the leaves and tubers if not properly prepared. Also if the diet is not diverse, and cassava is eaten daily, it can lead to long-term poisoning. Very true, not all things natural are healthy.

Gracias @justinparke por su comentario. todo se trata de conocimiento; en el caso de la yuca o mandioca hay variedades dulce y amargas, siendo las dulce las que tienen menos de 50 mg de àcido cianhídrico por kg de peso en las raices o tuberculos. quien no las conoce puede consumir las variedades amargas con alto riesgo de intoxicación. sin embargo, nuestros aborígenes encontraron la forma de consumirlas con muy poco riesgo para su salud.

Thank you @justinparke for your comment. it's all about knowledge; In the case of cassava, there are sweet and bitter varieties, the sweet ones having less than 50 mg of hydrocyanic acid per kg of weight in the roots or tubers. Those who do not know them can consume the bitter varieties with a high risk of poisoning. however, our aborigines found a way to consume them with very little risk to their health
