I learned how to grow Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms from a Paul Stamet school graduate, David Falkowski at Open Minded Organics in Sag Harbor, NY.
I met David on a Phish forum Phantasytour.com.
Humidity: Mushrooms need constant, high humidity to develop properly. This requires a humidifier and a means of keeping a constant Relative Humidity (RH) between 80-90%.

He was great to me and taught me the whole process. He had a control panel to mange the humidity of the room, and cleanliness is important in the room as well as a face mask if you are doing this for extended periods in any large quantity as you don't want to develop the sensitivity in your lungs to the spores.
Things to note are you'll need a completely temperature and humidity system or the perfect environment for extended period of time, which is nearly impossible unless you are in a Eastern Pennsylvania Valley and other regions. David's environment was a aluminum military style insulated Quonset building like below.
I cant believe i am reading this @samstonehill !
Small world hey! Or perhaps the hive community is getting bigger?
Loving the military style mushroom making. Really makes me want to take a peek inside!
There are some shipping containers around here which might work, but they would get very hot in the summer. Unless we buried them?
We can still learn from the masters without needing to drag them here ;)
I like your mind Sam 🔥
Sam is waiting for me , We gone make TONS of alcool lol
The military shed is like wow!! Here in Asia we use simple bamboo structures - mostly so it doesn't get too hot inside. Love mushroooms.
Oyster mushrooms are a staple part of the diet here in Asia and ridiculously easy to grow. I like them simply stir fried with garlic and a tiny bit of organic miso paste tossed through at the end.

You just triggered an amazing old memory with the Infected Mushroom vid. I used to do their decor sometimes at Tyssen st, a crazy old club in London. We made giant fluorescent vegetables floating above the dance floor ;)
Thanks for the mushroom inspiration!
As @opidia mentioned, a project like this is very much on the cards for us here in France. Hope you don't mind if we fire questions at you sometimes?
I'd live to grow them in Bangladesh.I am highly excited to know how it's possible to grow them perfect in BD. As there is a lot about atmosphere issues attached with mushroom growing, so I hafta learn them at a glance. Thanks JOHN, you are such a hard-working guy and a good writer.
Thanks john!!
