New forest shelter expansion and the first active member of the future community arrives

I've been meaning to hop back on HIVE but I must confess that the forest life has been so much fun these last days that I've hardly been able to even get online. Nonetheless, today I was able to make some time and share with you a little of the things we've been working on at the forest shelter.

Perhaps the idea of a community is finally coming to life since a friend of mine has taken the initiative to step in and stay for a while. We set up another bed and have been doing things together these days, sharing the load of what it means to build something in these conditions.

What I mean is that you have to keep the fire going, gather water and firewood, cook, and keep things orderly enough, while at the same time gathering materials and building the new things that will come into life. This has allowed me to focus a lot more on the latter and in just a matter of days we have been able to expand the forest shelter to a second room that is nothing less than a greenhouse!

This is my friend, whom I shall call Charlie here - on her petition - who has been helping a lot with the daily tasks, but also with keeping the morale, faith, and focus high. She's also a talented musician and I was able to record this without her noticing, though she gave me permission to upload it.

We brought another bed from my mother's house and it fitted nicely, so it's nice to have two beds here now and be able to receive visitors. Oh, and did you notice the hammock? A gift from my mother too, and probably the best one (besides this body of course), she's ever given me. Three sleeping spaces, I'm just loving this.

Regarding the new room of the shelter, this is what's going on. I had gathered lots of plastic lying around from old greenhouses in the countryside so I built this quick structure to cover it with them.

There are still many spaces to cover before it's completely closed, but it already feels a lot more protected than before.

Right now this is the little "plant corner", but it's going to expand for sure. The idea is that this whole room gets filled with plants that will give beauty and help keep a better temperature inside the shelter.

If everything goes right, this will have turned into the least expensive earthship ever!!! The only expenses here have been the nails and my daily food, and candles to light up the nights. Perhaps it's a bit rustic for the taste of some, but for me it's just perfect, I look every once in a while around and can't avoid saying: "I love this place".

I managed to fit in a window just crossing branches here and there. It's awesome to be able to look outside while protected from the cold, but at the same time knowing you're in the forest, free as a wild animal.

So that's what's cooking these days at the forest shelter, everything keeps evolving, just like us. The best vibrations to all of you, not just high, happy ones, but also deep and profound ones 🍂

Congratulations on all this progress.. nice to see a good rustic shelter with good vibes happening!

I notice you described your shelter as an earthship. Earthships are often not well understood and so id like to mention that your shelter is not actually an earthship.. i think its important for people to know and understand what they are.. We would need to see several things for it to be called an earthship, most importantly the earth rammed tyres and systems that allow it to perform and maintain a comfortable climate year round..

wishing you many happy days and nights .. much love!

Well, I didn't describe it as such yet, I said that if all goes well it will become an earthship as the integrated greenhouse when filled with plants should keep a comfortable temperature all year long. Regarding the earth rammed tyres, isn't that something that can be adapted according to the resources each person has?

Either way it's in permanent evolution, everyday something changes, and I'm sure by the time I'm finished it'll be worthy of being called an earthship, no no, even better, a Mother Earth Ship 👽

Much love to you as well bro!

Wow, thank you for sharing. I'm sorry I haven't really followed your journey to this place but I'm looking forward to more updates 🙂 Very inspiring.
