Lemon essential oil - cheap and powerful product I use in my skin care routine and various health issues

As someone who is constantly looking for natural, effective ways to care for my skin, I started incorporating lemon essential oil into my daily skin care routine. I can honestly say that it really works, as my skin looks much better! It is also a powerful antiviral and antibacterial agent, which have helped me many times in my struggles with throat infections etc. Here I share some of my thoughts on using lemon essential oil.

How I use lemon essential oil in my skin care?

Lemon essential oil is a natural essential oil derived from the cold-pressing of lemon peel. It is a powerful cleansing agent which has a strong, citrusy scent. The essential oil is composed of a variety of compounds, including limonene, citral, pinene, and myrcene. Limonene is a monoterpene which is responsible for much of the citrusy aroma of the oil. Citral is an aldehyde and an isomer of geranial and neral, which are also present in the oil. Pinene is a monoterpene which is found in many essential oils, including lemon. Myrcene is a monoterpene that is also found in many essential oils.

Lemon essential oil is good for skin due to its antiseptic, astringent, and detoxifying properties. It can cleanse and tone the skin, reduce inflammation, and reduce pore size. Lemon essential oil also has natural antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it a great choice for treating acne and other skin conditions. Its natural astringent properties help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin, and blemishes. The acidity of the lemon oil helps to exfoliate the skin and promote cell turnover, which can help to reduce the appearance of scarring and age spots. Additionally, lemon essential oil is known to be a natural detoxifier, helping to flush out toxins from the body and help the skin to look brighter and healthier.

However, it's important to use lemon essential oil safely to avoid potential adverse effects.

When using lemon essential oil, it is essential to remember that it is phototoxic, which means that exposure to sunlight can cause skin irritation and burning. To avoid this, always apply a carrier oil such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil to the area before use.

Additionally, it is necessary to dilute the essential oil before use. It is recommended to mix 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil with 6-10 drops of a carrier oil to ensure proper dilution. Some people have more sensitive skin, and they can use higher dilutions, or they even use the oil undiluted, which is not recommended.

Always test a small amount of the diluted oil on a patch of skin before using it on a larger area to ensure there is no reaction.

Speaking about my use of lemon essential oil, I struggled with dandruff and enlarged pores in the first place. Occasionally, I also suffer because of small boils on my skin and the inflammation of hair follicles, especially after shaving my pubic hair.

For me, lemon essential oil appeared to be a real remedy for all of these problems. It makes my skin more healthy and radiant. It closes my enlarged pores and my skin stops to be oily when I use it in my everyday skin care routine.

I dilute it using organic oils, like jojoba oil, avocado oil, or hemp oil. Thanks to these carrier oils, the lemon oil can penetrate the deepest layers of skin, and it works from inside.

My favorite and simple recipe for beautiful skin contains aloe gel, organic oil and lemon oil. After I clean my face, I mix those 3 ingredients on my hand. I stir them vigorously using my finger and I get a small amount of face cream which I apply on my skin when it is still wet.

Here, all the ingredients work in perfect balance. Aloe gel soothes and regenerates my skin, helping to keep it hydrated. Organic oils are also essential for the proper level of hydration, and they also contain fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) which are essential for maintaining my skin healthy. Both organic oil and aloe gel are helpful in my fight with the excess of sebum, and lemon essential oil closes my enlarged pores, cleanse my skin, and fight with inflammation caused by bacteria and clogged pores.

I also add few drops of lemon essential oil to my everyday face cream. I usually choose light face creams that don't leave my skin oily after their application. They absorb fast together with this essential oil.

Lemon essential oil as my homemade remedy for throat issues

Since childhood, I've struggled with inflammatory states in my throat, including sore throat, tonsillitis, etc.

In fact, lemon essential oil works better in some cases than antibiotics prescribed by my doctors do. I remember that a few months ago I had a terrible purulent sore throat and my doctor prescribed me antibiotics that didn't work.

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is something pretty common in today's world, and after 10 days of taking antibiotics, I was still suffering a lot. I was determined to get rid of the sore throat, so I started to use lemon essential oil. I gargled using this oil, sometimes also adding clove oil, which is also mighty, and it anesthetizes a throat in pain.

I also used lemon essential oil internally by eating a tablespoon of honey with 3-4 drops of the oil added, 3 times a day.

However, the most effective method of application in case of essential oils is inhalation because of the highest bioavailability, which reaches the level of over 70% when you use essential oils this way.

The great news is that lemon essential oil is very cheap, yet powerful. In my country, the prices start at 2 dollars per 10 ml bottle, which is really cheap, as it is enough for me to use it for 1 or 2 weeks, depending on my current needs and issues.

I hope you enjoyed my article. Do you also use lemon essential oil, or maybe you have other favourite oils?
