Mount Teide

in Photography4 years ago

Last year my wife and I had a holiday in Teneriefe. It was the first time we'd been and it was a great relaxing vacation. But one of the things I was really looking forward to was going up Mount Teide after a friend had recommended it as a dark skies location.

Initially we went on an excursion, so had a bus tour up the mountain which also included a meal, wine tasting, and watching the sunset above the clouds, before heading up to the mountain itself. I'd taken my DSLR and tripod with me which I was nervous about on the flight, but so glad I did.

Once up the mountain we stopped in a layby where the tour guide pointed out all the constellations. I'd already said that I wanted to stop and take some shots which he allowed me to do while he spoke. These shots are some of what I took as I tried to take in the scope of everything around me...

I enoyed the excursion so much that the next morning I hired a car to go back, and the following night I went back to the same spot first, then stopped off at others on the way back to get more shots..
