Just got in the door from @caffetto. This was the night I’ve been hoping for. A generous block of time at the coffee shop to work and catch up. I had to finish at least three photos for tonight’s Hive post […and generally, just to have them finished for the client], sketch some monsters for a contract @swarddraws and I have been working on for Mirrorpool, and I even managed to fit in quite a few games of EDH with @bryanpolitte’s brother, Shane. Shane and I are going to try getting together once a week for Magic: The Gathering at @caffetto.
The photography I finished tonight is of my friends Micheline Pitt and Lynh, the co-founders of La Femme En Noir. As soon as these two brilliant, creative women started the goth dress and gown company, I was fortunate enough to shoot their first look book in the summer of 2017 at Castle Green is Pasadena, CA. I’ve done several shoots for LFEN since then. The overall esthetic of the brand fits well with my dark style of pinup. Our last full production shoot together was in LA in 2019.
The day I met Lynh was the day of that fateful first shoot and we’ve remained friends since. I’ve know Micheline since 2014 and she is easily one of my favorite models to capture with the lens. During my recent trip to Los Angeles, the day was to be split in to a press shoot for Micheline and her husband Chip for their writer/directorial needs and to shoot some looks of Lynh and Micheline in LFEN gowns. We shot at Micheline and Chip’s home which is one of the most breathtaking private properties I’ve ever seen.
We started shooting around 1:00p.m., and gradually, as the day wore on, the set set casting beautiful ambience and glow. Working with both women, it’s always such a pleasure. Micheline and Lynh wholly trust me when they know I’m in my element. It’s a mutual creative respect that I appreciate. Additionally, everyone in the company of this long day is a dear friend and that always makes me reflect on how lucky I am to have this job. Thanks for reading. Have a great night!
