Toledo, both now and in times past, continues to be that metaphorical initiatory pool, where, sooner or later, all the neophytes of Romanticism end up, savouring, to the delight of the most intimate, all that which not even the wind was able to take away and that, in the past, there were many and violent winds that fell upon it.
From that meritorious resilience, from that stubborn determination, there survive, in the melancholic Toledo, whose terraces look out over the banks of the Tagus, with the nostalgia of a splendorous past, notable models of architecture, which, despite the transformation, still contain enough beauty to seduce that noble part that encourages us all: the spirit.
One of the most remarkable and moving examples is this genuine and beautiful architecture, which, in medieval times, was the most important for the people of one of the Three Cultures of the Book, whose tolerance, in times considered dark, made this city great: the synagogue of Saint Mary the White.
Toledo, tanto ahora como en épocas pasadas, continúa siendo esa metafórica piscina iniciática, donde, tarde o temprano, terminan recalando todos los neófitos del Romanticismo, saboreando, para deleite de lo más íntimo, todo aquello que ni siquiera el viento fue capaz de llevar y eso, que, en el pasado, fueron muchos y violentos los vientos que sobre ella se abatieron.
De esa meritoria resiliencia, de esa obstinada determinación, sobreviven, en el Toledo melancólico, cuyas terrazas se asoman a las riberas del Tajo, con la nostalgia de un esplendoroso pasado, notables modelos de arquitecturas, que, a pesar de la transformación, todavía contienen la suficiente belleza para seducir a esa parte noble que a todos nos alienta: el espíritu.
Uno de los ejemplos más notables y conmovedores, es esta genuina y hermosa arquitectura, que, en época medieval, fue la más importante para las gentes de una de las Tres Culturas del Libro, cuya tolerancia, en épocas consideradas oscuras, hizo grande a esta ciudad: la sinagoga de Santa María la Blanca.
