[ENG-SPN] Balance and Reflection / Balance y Reflexión

The year, like the sun, is also setting, indicating to us, in its farewell, the need to take stock, a task that is often not pleasant but is essential if we take into account that, even as people, we are also our own company and for better or worse, we have to face our balance sheet and balance our profit and loss account. Obviously, you don't always win and when it comes to our own accounting, unlike a company, make-up may not be the best option. For the sake of appearances, you can say that you have been a good boss and that during this time of vital taxation, you have not left anyone hanging along the way. But you know that it is not true, because, deep down, you are also aware that those angels and demons that you carry within you - that complement of Antonio Machado and that circumstance of Ortega y Gasset - are the most implacable inspectors that the treasury of the soul can have at its service. We must be honest and, despite accepting with human responsibility the golden rule that no one is abandoned on the Way, we must also surrender to the evidence that, at times, it is the Way itself that inexorably imposes its rules, leading you away through forks that others can no longer pass. Perhaps that is what true resilience really consists of: accepting the inevitable, without stopping walking or never losing hope that one day, after crossing a new horizon, you will finally hear the bells of Ithaca and, like Capra's incorrigible Clarence, feel that you too have finally earned your wings. El año, como el sol, va también camino del ocaso, indicándonos, en su despedida, la necesidad de hacer balance, tarea que muchas veces no es agradable pero que resulta indispensable si tenemos en cuenta, que, aun como personas, somos también nuestra propia empresa y para bien o para mal, tenemos que afrontar nuestro balance y cuadrar nuestra cuenta de resultados. Es obvio, que no siempre se gana y cuando se trata de nuestra propia contabilidad, a diferencia de una empresa, el maquillaje puede no ser la mejor opción. De cara a la galería, puedes decir que has sido un buen patrón y que durante este tiempo de fiscalidad vital, no has dejado a nadie colgado en el camino. Pero sabes que no es verdad, porque, en el fondo, también eres consciente de que esos ángeles y esos demonios que llevas dentro -ese complementario de Antonio Machado y esa circunstancia de Ortega y Gasset- son los inspectores más implacables que la hacienda del alma pueda tener a su servicio. Hay que ser honestos y a pesar de aceptar con humana responsabilidad la regla de oro de que en el Camino no se abandona a nadie, rendirse también a la evidencia de que, en ocasiones, es el propio Camino quien impone inexorablemente sus reglas, alejándote por bifurcaciones por las que otros ya no pueden pasar. Tal vez en eso consista, en realidad, la verdadera resiliencia: en aceptar lo irremediable, sin dejar de caminar ni tampoco perder nunca la esperanza de que un día, pasado un nuevo horizonte, oigas por fin las campanas de Ítaca y como el incorregible Clarence de Capra, sientas que tú también has conseguido por fin tus alas.
