[ENG-SPN] A walk through Silos / Un paseo por Silos

Any traveller who wishes to enter one of the main arteries of that authentic empire of dreams, chimeras and legends that was, without a doubt, Old Castile, has an unavoidable date with this emblematic place, whose name, Santo Domingo de Silos, already indicates, by itself, its ancestral origins.

Indeed, built on the edge of the power of one of the most important monasteries in the history of Spain, the town of Silos, still preserves, although in many cases fallen into disrepair, a good part of that medieval wealth, which, no matter how you look at it, always constitutes an architecture that stubbornly refuses to disappear.

Thus, while still largely faithful to its ancient roots, a walk through Santo Domingo de Silos also brings with it the inevitable sensation of a walk through nostalgia, where Art, History and Culture form a well-matched trio, which never leaves anyone indifferent to that metaphorical box of dreams, which, after all, is always a daydream.

Todo aquel viajero que pretenda penetrar en una de las principales arterias de ese auténtico imperio de sueños, quimeras y leyendas que fue, no cabe duda, la Vieja Castilla, tiene una cita ineludible con este emblemático lugar, cuyo nombre, Santo Domingo de Silos, ya indica, por sí mismo, sus ancestrales orígenes.

En efecto, levantado a la vera del poder de uno de los monasterios más relevantes de la historia de España, el pueblo de Silos, todavía conserva, aunque en muchos casos venida a menos, buena parte de esa riqueza medieval, que, se mire por donde se mire, constituye siempre una arquitectura que se niega con obstinación a desaparecer.

De manera, que, en buena parte todavía fiel a sus antiguas raíces, un paseo por Santo Domingo de Silos conlleva, además, la inevitable sensación de un paseo por la nostalgia, donde Arte, Historia y Cultura forman un trío bien avenido, que nunca deja indiferente a esa metafórica caja de sueños, que, al fin y al cabo, es siempre la ensoñación.
