Iconostasis in monastery

in Photography4 months ago

The Trinity-Gledensky Monastery is located in the village of Morozovitsa, Velikoustyugsky district, Vologda region. Roughly speaking, the Great Ustyug began from this place. I have shown these places many times, but I have never photographed the iconostasis.

And this iconostasis is unusual! It is voluminous and made in the Baroque style.

I do not even know how to describe my feelings and what to tell about this miracle of architecture.

The pictures were needed for the same exhibition in Moscow, one of which was still on display.

I had no idea how I was going to photograph it all, so I used the entire focal arsenal, from the widest angle to the tele.

And I used all the plans – from general to large and even small fragments.

It was an interesting experience and the pictures turned out to be quite vivid.

I don't know if anyone has filmed it before me.

The fact is that you can't go close to the iconostasis, but they gave me access.

Such angles will not be available to the average tourist.

Perhaps restorers once photographed up close and in close-up, but I did not find such pictures on the web.

And such an amazing work of art should only be viewed up close.

From a distance, it looks like an ordinary iconostasis.

This frame that got into the exhibition.
