Warm winter, almost no snow, rains a couple of times a week – all conditions are created for photographing cellars in fields and backyards. But not everything is so clear. It turned out that knee-deep snow in a field outside the city and the consistency of the snow cover is the most unfavorable for walking. The snow is damp on top, heavy with a crust, and loose inside, like sand.
Last January, I had to wade through waist-deep snowdrifts to reach the dugouts. It's incredibly difficult: to overcome a couple of dozen meters, you had to take breaks.
But knee-deep in snow, I can tell you, also gives physical activity.
Only snowmobile tracks were helped out, but not everywhere.
Vyazovoye is a village near Chekshino. This is the Sokolsky district of the Vologda region.
In general, throughout the autumn, the Chekshinsky bush pleased me with the dugouts, as well as the entire Sokolsky district throughout 2024.
I didn't get there in late autumn because I was stuck in a field.
The roads are better now if it cleaned and rolled up...and if not, then it is completely absent. Therefore, only with our feet, only through snowdrifts.
There were a lot of dugouts in Vyazovoye, although I found only one location on the map.
I'm just used to seeing them standing together, side by side, in a row.
And here there is a trick: the cellars are located on small mounds and stand at a distance of ten to twenty meters from each other.
If in Chekshino itself the arrangement of vegetable storages is familiar, in one or two rows close to each other, then here they are scattered all over the field near the village.
Usually, the cellars were placed in one place so that they were all in sight for safety purposes.
And in the village of Vyazovoye, each resident has his own cellar.
They turned out to be such introverted dugouts. That's why I didn't find them on the map – a separate building is often perceived as a bathhouse or a simple barn.
Well, I'm still more interested in clusters of vegetable storages than single structures. But if there are a lot of singles, then it's also interesting.
