You are so right - knowledge really goes a long way when it comes to self growth & extending your prosperity in the long run. Of course, I alternate between money & knowledge as a choice but I noticed knowledge wins most of the time.
Things like what @jongolson is doing is a beneficial concept because it shows others they are acknowledged & appreciated. This can go a long way for someone in our community, beyond just earning money. It can motivate them to keep going because they know their hard work is appreciated. Sometimes, it only takes one person to inspire them & keep going.
In other circumstances in life, knowledge will be the winning choice. In personal life experiences, while I like money as anyone else would, when someone shares knowledge (or even teaches me) to help me better myself & be more self sufficient, I will choose it every time. I would rather be able to grow into a better version of myself through that gained knowledge & perhaps, later down the line, help someone else as well. It is a butterfly effect since we are all connected in one form or another. :)
Your neighbor sounds like an awesome person. Big shout out to him. Thank you for sharing this concept. It is an interesting discussion & as always, you inspire. :) 💚
There were some great comments on this question, and there is no straight answer, as these things are so many times correlated... To take some unserious note, maybe we are poor because we want to be more knowledgable... :) Or, vice-versa... :)
As I do believe in the power of the wish... If you want something, focus, and work on it, you will get it at the end... I would like to have money, but it looks that I move my focus to other things, and in my "deeper me" I actually want something else... :)
Have a great weekend!
