Super excited to go outside!
It was an exciting day for little Ricky. He got to actually get out of the stroller and play on the beach today. We've taken him down there quite a few times, but it's always been with us holding him, or he just sees the sand from afar.
I like to think that he was super excited to go out, but he pretty much gets excited about anything if you talk to him about it in a really excited voice.
Immediately after his little feet hit the sand he started trying to run away. I have a feeling that he is going to walking really soon. He pretty much is skipping crawling and going to walking. Well, technically he speed scoots across the floor. He is already pulling himself up to a standing position and can walk along the couch.
Of course it is a little nerve wracking because he falls pretty a lot and you have to be ready to catch him. He's been doing this for at least a month now, and he is currently 8 months old.
Of course, he hates being put down and left to his own devices. The poor little guy is at the peak of separation anxiety. We can't wait for him to get past this stage. It is totally exhausting! He screams pretty much any time you leave the room, even if just for a minute.
As soon as I stood him up and supported his back, he was super happy again. My little monster is super bi-polar; he can cry and laugh in the same breath.
After getting home, he conked out like a light. Well, that is after 15 minutes of cleaning sand out of him mouth, armpits and feet. I think he really enjoyed it.
I know that I did, but mostly because he is exhausted enough to give me 20 minutes to write a post about it! It's the little things in life.
Oooh now I don't want to be a mother. Just like you said that he screams a lot, he falls a lot, he cries a lot, that sounds like a lot of work. ;)
Hi Rick - I meant to comment, am sure I did, but maybe I got distracted and never sent before 'killing' my laptop, lol.
Such a cute kid, little Ricky! Reminds me of the two boys I raised (they are a generation apart, i.e. my grandson from my first is the same age as my second son) - and eating sand, lol, my first was always looking for worms after it rained, and poking around in rotten tree stumps for bugs! Not that we fed him enough, he had his own mind and preferences, lol.
I also meant to share this again on my Twitter, so here it is:
Kids are great Rick, but even better when they are fast asleep... LOL
Ha! Ain't that the truth. I love him to bits, but really enjoy naptime.

Hahhaha
Aww, good lookin little dude. My son was a scooter too, never crawled, just went from scooting to walking.
Thanks man, yeah I think he is going straight to walking for sure. He gets better at balancing everyday.
That is really awesome! It looks like it was a great day. Being out in the fresh air can definitely be tiring sometimes. It's like sensory overload for all of us right now after being cooped up all winter!
For sure! I do appreciate the change of scenery though. I feel kind of weak from sitting around too much. I start heavy breathing way too easily!
Haha, I hear you! My wife and I went out for walk the other day and it was a whole different set of muscles than the ones we have been working!
He is so so cute! I bet that it was so fun to get outside of the house and have some fun😁
