I remember some of the first posting I read from You back in the Georgia homestead days.

My question is. Do you miss those days and did you ever dream you would have everything you do now?

I have enjoyed the journey with You reading about it in your Hive Blogs.

No not really, I do not miss Georgia.... It was keeping me from doing things like growing cannabis due to it being illegal there. Where I lived I could not have such large gardening projects, so moving was needed to do what I really wanted.

As would I ever have as much as I do now... honestly not on this scale, I knew I needed a bigger workshop but never thought I would have so much space and equipment by now.

Thanks man, its been quite the journey. Glad we can both blog here.

Wow, kudos to you @solominer! Your property is so large and many things to do that it seems to be never-ending...
What is your day like, and does it involve your wife?

Thanks very much, every day I am so thankful to live on this property. And try to make the most of it whenever I can.

I spent alot of my time in machinery, moving dirt or tilling.. or doing something else on the farm.

Yeah we do many things outside together on the farm, they help out with me moving firewood to the furnace in the winter. And during the summer we water the plants together, check for pests and treat them. Plant and harvest.. Really thankful for them.

I see you do quite extensive gardening involving some expensive equipment, does the cost factor matters to you ? or you are more interested in growing organic stuffs because of health benefits ?

 8 months ago (edited)

Yeah we want to have a homestead here, the goal to grow enough food to sustain us. And yes we want everything organic and natural as possible.

My equipment I buy for the farm are business expenses, so I see it all as a long term investment. Many of of these machines are lifetime purchases, should never have to buy them again.

We do rent equipment sometimes, when we think we may not need to use it often. But the stuff we use yearly or more often we buy.

I am interested in village life. Why do you choose village life.

I have lived in cities my whole life, and was getting tired of that life. So moving out to the country worked for me at this point in my life.

Previously it would have been harder as I work in the information technology field, but with good internet I can still do some of that stuff here.

I also really like village life even though I haven't lived in the city

Give it a try sometime. You will either like it or not.

I once lived in a few days in my brother's place, I felt like I didn't know where to go where the building was and felt strange

Thank you @solominer for the opportunity.
My question is: can you analyze to us the processing of firewood. Maybe some of us could want to try it out 😊

Ah yes.. there is a process. I look for sick and dead trees along the forest road on my property and pull those out. I cut them all up and store them in the barn until it's time to burn them. Then do it all again next year.

Hey solominer!

A few questions about Elder Scrolls.

Which is your favorite Elder Scrolls game?

Have you tried the Oblivion Remaster? Do you think it's worth it?

Hey there,

I have only put an hour into the remaster of Oblivion. But both Skyrim and Oblivion are my favorites. Played those for a long time.

Before the remaster came out I was really enjoying the vampires expanded mod for Skyrim. Was great replay value.

Oblivion was the first Bethesda Studios game I played, and it blew my mind. Skyrim is also one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to playing the remaster, but it may take some time since I have other priorities.

Nice, it was my first as well.. I put a few hours into the remaster last night.. its a lot of fun, enjoying it.

I live in a village (Rular Living) as the village has clean air, fields and greenery, I love gardening and plants and I express it through my blogs. I want to ask you how can I grow my account on Hive by starting a garden. Need some tips.

That is great where you live. Hope you really enjoy it out there. I love where I live.

In our newest Crypto and Cola podcast I talked about exactly that topic. On how to do better as an author on Hive. Will be posting it shortly. But basically the more comments you leave that are real and authentic, and the more you upvote others and engage in the community is key to success. Make friends on discord that are on Hive, and join in the radio shows that are in many of those groups. You will make friends fast if you interact.

Thank you for your time and guidance; I am engaging comments on other bloggers and also upvotes with my small HP, around 300. I have no group on Discord if you suggest it to me, I will be thankful to you.

Joining the Official Hive discord is a great place to start.. then asking there which other discords people will help you out... You can find the link in our show posts.

Thank you for suggest me official hive discord, I will try to search out.

Very interesting, but the language bar prevents me from attending the AMA. However, I hope you will write a post, with the summary of what was discussed there, so I could translate it and be aware of everything.

For my part, if I had been able to attend, I would ask him about his work as a witness. That is, what proposals do you have. If he intends to expand his work to the growing Hispanic community.
I think that more than a witness is more than an automated node, I think the most notorious thing about hive is that your witnesses are not pc's processing data and incorporating them into the blockchain, but, that the witnesses are people in charge of those means. And that their decisions, mainly that of the first 20, are aimed at strengthening the blockchain, to provide greater excellence and robustness to the platform.
Therefore, if a witness has a solid proposal, if he/she seeks to make an impact with what he/she does, he/she will easily move to one of those 20 positions. It is as it happens in a political race, the one who convinces better has more privacy to win, even over those who have more money to invest in a campaign. If I am wrong please correct me.

Greetings and have a nice day

Hey there. I have no bias on regions to support on Hive. Though I am guessing the Hispanic community is one of the largest. It really depends more on where the money is going. If it's mostly being powered down and not staked I am less likely to support those.

As for my witness I am happy that I am in the top 50. I am considering running an API node, though a recent talk with blocktrades I feel like it may be redundant for me to set one up right now as there is already one in DC not too far from me. Though I am still considering it. As I am not in DC but hundreds of miles away and on a different ISP. I could see if I set up another API node in the same data center as them that would be redundant. But that is not my plan, so we shall see. I may deploy one always.

Besides that my nodes run on solar power, and have backup systems to keep them online due to a power failure. When many have no power I still do with my setup. As long as the Internet stays up, which is tends to do even with power outages.

Thanks for the good questions hope you have a good day too.

Thanks for responding so quickly.
I understand about node scaling, it is always wise and healthy to avoid collisions between 🐋. However, the most important thing is to maintain a good stability in the blockchain and a secure and stable service, I know you will do your best in that regard; all of us in hive, we depend on you witnesses.

On the other hand, it's great about a solar energy system, that makes it not only an example of energy rationalization where hive, does not become a fossil fuel consuming user. Regarding the internet supply, in your country and in your state, I do not think there are failures, but it would be good a satellite backup, if this would not be too expensive. That would make it one of the most secure witnesses. Anyway, my vote does not represent much, but I chose to support you because I believe that whoever fights for a balanced, clean and sustainable world, deserves my humble respect and support.

Thank you for your attention.

How do you get people you follow to follow you back since there’s no notification for a follow😔

Honestly I do not really care if people follow me back.

Okay boss🙂

Gracias por la informacion.

You are already a Hive whale, what is your long term strategy on Hive?

I plan on reducing my stake to a 1.0 KE eventually and keep blogging from there if I want to.

Good evening my friend, living in the countryside is very enjoyable, especially in the countryside where we garden and farm, it is very good for our daily life. I really like it, I hope it is in accordance with The desire to get satisfactory results. ❤️🙏

Hey there.. much appreciated.. it is quite the life.

Yes, that's right my friend, I was really amazed to see it ❤️🙏

I do not have a question for you, I just wanted to say how nice it is to see you doing so well on here. You have come a long way, and nowhere to go but up.

Oh no worries, thank you.. it sure has been quite the journey. Really glad I have the support here to make it all happen.

Indeed, its more coming.. I gotta get out there and take some garden pictures. I have so much to show right now.

Thanks for joining me along the way... You always leave honest and insightful comments and I am happy to have you here.

Hi, it's great idea about AMA
I think maybe somebody already asked you this questions but I'll try

  1. When you first time knew about hive or maybe steem at that time?
  2. When you understood that it's time to become a witness?
  3. What the most difficult thing in homesteading and gardening in you region with which you faced out?

Yeah it was about time I did another one.

  1. I found Steem as a trading pair on the Poloniex exchange.. Researched it and really found it interesting.

  2. I have run crypto nodes in the past, and since I am really into Hive figured it would be a good idea to set one up as well.

  3. Getting things done while we have good weather.. During the summer I do my best just to be outside up till around 10am and then stay inside during the hottest part of the day. But that does not always work out, and working out on the farm in full sun in the summer can suck. Same in the winter, sometimes the weather makes it not possible to do some work, like pouring concrete.. or its too windy to do stuff. The weather has a big impact on us.

Hello, how are you? Same old, same old? hehehe. Anyway, I would like to ask about Pollen allergies. Thanks.

Hey there.. yep all is well here, but its always changing.. usually for the better.

I have been eating lots of local honey, made from a farm less than 30 miles from me. Been doing that for a few years, and seems to help. I used to get sinus infections every year and I no longer get them.. I still sneeze alot and get stuffy but no longer get sick.

I also wear a respirator on the world of days when I am outside... helps a lot

how can we work together?

Leave insightful comments and engage in others posts as well.

i try :)

What is your goal on hive (if you have one)? I mean you have 700k HP, you plan to just keep increase it, reach a level and then take out, or w/e else?

I am waiting for the next big bull run, staking for now... and then will reduce my HP to a 1.0 KE. Which would be about 180,000-200,000 HP. And then I will just go from there.

Wow, I didn't know about your farm content. So many years here seems pretty crazy to me. I have long dreamed of moving to the mountains, away from the city. I live in a capital city, although on the outskirts, it's relatively quieter than other parts, but not quiet enough for me anymore. I imagine that with growth, all areas become hectic over time.

Have you thought about emancipating yourself from the system? How much do you think is the most one can become self-sufficient in this day and age? What advice would you give to someone who wants to achieve this? How could Hive help with independence in the countryside?

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Yeah it has been quite the experience that is for sure. Well I hope you can find a rural life one day, its just hard to find a work/life balance out there sometimes.

We have been slowly moving away from needing things from the system so to say, we buy less vegetables when we grow them, we eat hunted meat so we buy less meat at the stores, we use well water so no need for water utilities. And working hard on using less power from the grid using my solar.. Also have a wood furnace for heating so we do not need to buy as much gas. All those things have helped me.

Awesome, I love it. Amazing that you can hunt for food 😍 What do you hunt?

Greetings, @solominer have you had bachacos on your farm? Any special treatment to combat them? These bugs are destroying the leaves of my plants.

Yes we have problems with ants.. they farm aphids which can destroy our melons and cantaloupes.

safer-insecticidal-soap-concentrate-pint.jpg

You can spray the plants with insecticidal soap mixed with the right amount of water. It fixed our problem.

Diatomaceous earth can also help when its dry outside.

don't have a question at this time but reblogging this for visibility as these posta make for interesting comment sections usually!

Hah its all good.. thanks for reblogging it.

Yeah always surprised by some of the questions, can be really insightful.

If you were given an african elephant but you couldn't sell or give it away, what would you do with it?

 8 months ago (edited)

I would fence in 50 acres by a water source for it and let it do whatever it wants inside. And I would never step foot inside that enclosure unless it died.

Hey there.

Already getting permanently downvoted by blurt users.

It depends on how the question is asked, and if there is misinformation in that message with the question. When people use straw-man arguments, or try to waste others time with round about arguments I may just want to DV them.
