Happy Saturday!
As I ponder the questions in this week's QC Contest - 120, I was led to wonder: what is creativity, exactly?
Albert Einstein said;
Creativity is intelligence having fun.
This quote paints creativity as an act of intelligence, and also as an expression of joy and playfulness.
I ask; Isn't the act of writing, in itself, a creative process? If it is, then what better way to describe myself than to say that I'm creativity personified? Lol. modesty aside.
Everything I do on Hive is an expression of my creativity. I craft compelling content that sparks meaningful connections with my readers. How about my photography? Is it an adventure? An escapade? Nah, it's more like a crazy obsession, or rather creative obsession 😅. Some of you who regularly visit my blog can attest to my photography freakiness – I just love taking pictures and preserving life's precious moments - from the play of shadows to the vibrancy of nature, objects, people, and more. For me, it is one click at a time!
In addition to that, I also express my creativity through music. I'm a songwriter and singer, with a collection of original songs which are yet to be recorded. Music is a powerful outlet for creativity, and I feel fortunate to be able to tap into that.
But that's not all – I'm also a culinary creative! While I may not have formal chef training like @winanda, I've mastered the art of cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Oh la la! 😂.
I recall when I surprised a friend with a delicious pot of Egusi soup made with bitter leaf and waterleaf - a native soup of the Akwa Ibomites. And you know what, I had never cooked it before nor even seen it prepared. My friend challenged me to make it, and my creative instincts saved the day.
As a radio station marketing executive, creativity is key. I prospect for clients, craft scripts, develop adverts, and create media plans. Without creativity, I couldn't do my job or deliver results for my clients.
With the various descriptions of my creative pursuits, there's no gainsaying that creativity extends far beyond the arts. It's a powerful tool that can be applied to pretty much anything and everything we do. In fact, it is one of those things that are truly universal.
Creativity is about finding new and innovative ways to solve problems, express ourselves, and connect with others.
As an inherent trait, it can be developed and maintained overtime. Maintaining creativity, for me, is all about:
Trying new things - exploring new hobbies, visiting new places, talking to new people, and all. This helps me to see the world in new and interesting ways, which can fuel my creativity.
Taking breaks: I found out that whenever I step away from a creative project or problem to clear my head, I come back to feeling more inspired and with new insights on how to finish up.
Conversing with myself on paper is another way I maintain creativity. Through journaling, I transform experiences, thoughts, and ideas into meaningful reflections and creative masterpieces. It's a great way to brainstorm innovative solutions to life's challenges.
- Nature is my ultimate muse, sparking creativity everywhere I look. From the smallest flower to the tallest tree, inspiration teems!

Hello
nice article, I once read it somewhere:
In one of its strategy papers, the WEF (even though I am not a friend of this organisation) stated that the most important characteristic of employees will be creativity. The companies with the most creative employees will come out on top. One reason for this is that creativity is an exclusively human characteristic, something that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot do. In my view, intelligence and creativity are also two different concepts and should not be confused or equated. I am also of the opinion that creativity does not come from the brain, but has another source, but that is going too far and is more of a philosophical question.
By the way, one of the best books I have read on the subject of creativity is Rick Rubin's book - The Creative Act - A Way of Being.

Creativity is knowledge and power, you are good in it. But the African salad is tempting me 🤣🤣
Creativity is everything you just explained, and yes, you are a very creative photographer.
