Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. It's been a tough end to the weekend for FC Barcelona as they held back from taking the three points against Getafe on Saturday. FC Barcelona played a 1-1 draw away from home in the La Liga weekend fixtures. The match was vital for FC Barcelona to win as they could have closed down the gap on the table between them and Atletico Madrid, who lost to Leganes this weekend. It seems that the league title is slipping away even further from Barcelona with the recent update on the league table.
Getafe is one of the horrendous clubs in Laliga with their style of play, which is horrible to watch. Getafe, in their recent game in the Copa Del Rey competition, won a match with 9 players on the field by one goal, and how did they do it? By playing defensively with their box. Getafe don't care about playing good football as their goal is to take the lead in any match. No matter if it's the first 2 minutes, they will call it a day and spend the remaining minutes of the match defending with their last breath until the final whistle of the match.
FC Barcelona would have walked away with all three points from that game, but it did not happen as many Barcelona fans hoped, and this has put winning the league hope in doubt as Real Madrid went on to win their match against Las Palmas today. It's time to be realistic, and the truth is Barcelona can't win the league again, which, in my opinion, is over after Real Madrid's win this evening. This hurts a lot because Barca had an eight-point lead over Real Madrid early this month, and now Real Madrid is leading the league with seven points over Barcelona.
The team are to be blamed for this turn of events because they let the league slip off right from their hands with their bad performances towards the end of last year. It would be delusional for me to think Real Madrid will drop points now because they are playing incredibly well in the league. The trophies left this season for Barcelona to pursue are the Copa Del Rey trophy and the Uefa Champions League title. It won't be bad if Barcelona can finish the season with those two titles, which seems kind of impossible, but there's no harm in believing the possibility of it happening this season.
Hansi Flick and the team need to get things straight for the rest of the season and avoid any slips, as it is already approaching the crucial part of the season in which all teams need to work harder to achieve their respective goal of the season. There is still a lot of football to be played, so I won't rule out a possibility of a switch in all competitions for both Barcelona and Real Madrid, but let's see how it goes in the coming months. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping and have a good day.

How does playing defensively equate to horrendous football? There are more than one ways to win a football game. Burnley played expansive football last season; they are back in the Championship as we speak. Russell Martin's Southampton were easy on the eyes. They will definitely be back in the Championship next season.
As far as I'm concerned, in football you play to win. That's why clubs still queue for the services of the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
