Greetings
Game Week 6 of the English Premier League comes with its own set of questions, would Manchester City continue its winning streak? Can Chelsea and Manchester United become more consistent? How good are Brighton and Liverpool this season? And, finally, who is winning the North London Derby? So without further ado, let's get into the preview of the matches.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham
Both teams sit in the 10th and 9th spot in the league ranking with Fulham have four more goals minus goals deficit than Crystal Palace but don't let that fool you as Fulham has faced the monster of the league, Manchester City. This game includes many differential options that could win you extra points outside the regular picks with goals being expected looking at both teams' defensive lines.
Crystal Palace's Odsonne Edouard (5.6) and Eze (6.3) seem to be the best source of points as far as Palace is concerned with the latter being on penalty kicks duties and the former being Palace's best attacking threat. Fulham, however, is still yet to activate the team's attackers with Midfielder Andreas (5.5) being the highest point-grossing player. A focus on Crystal Palace's players might be warranted here.
Luton Town vs Wolves
Luton doesn't seem to have joined the Premier League with many analysts suggesting that other teams in the play-offs would have done better. Yes, the team did score some goals here or there, but they were never goals that made a difference other than maybe ruining some FPL teams' clean sheets. A Luton attacker or midfielder might get you a goal, although it's never certain which one, but the defence is definitely far from getting you clean-sheet points.
Wolves, on the other hand, do have some weapons at their disposal with midfielders Neto (5.5), Lee Chan (5.4), and attacker Cunha (5.5) being great differential options. Neto seems to be the best pick of the bunch, but all three seem to be able to provide something against Luton's defence.
Manchester City vs. Nottingham Forest
Nottingham's beginning to this season hasn't been the easiest yet the team finds itself in the 9th place with 7 points from 5 matches that included Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea. This means that Nottingham attacker Taiwo Awoniyi (6.6), Nottingham midfielders Morgan Gibbs-White (5.9) and Elanga (5.5) have the potential to be great differentials going forward.
However, Nottingham is facing Manchester City. Although Manchester City doesn't seem to be in the best form, the team is winning and scoring like it is in the best form. Haaland seems to be a given choice even at 14.1, but other options like Alvarez (6.9), Foden (7.6), and Doku (6.5) are great companion players to have next to Haaland with Alvarez being a key piece going forward according to Pep Guardiola.
Brentford vs Everton
We are yet to see Everton not concede this season after seeing them go through the entirety of the preseason without conceding, we are also yet to see Brentford not score with the exception of a game against Newcastle. In football everything can change, however, counting on something to change unprovoked doesn't seem like a valid policy. That's why it's safe to stick with the safe choices and differentials going into this match with Bryan Mbeumo (6.9) being the most advanced midfielder who is also on penalty duties, and Yoane Wissa (6.1) being by far the preferred option in Ivan Toney's absence.
Burnely vs Manchester United
Burnley had suffered quite the culture shock upon promotion as the team's offensive style doesn't seem to work against the quality of Premier League teams. Manchester United have also been struggling since the season began, however, they might not be struggling enough to suffer against this Burnley team. If you haven't been among the people who sold Rashford so far, it might be beneficial to keep for this Game Week. However, with the changes in United, Rasmus Højlund (7) might be the new goal threat, but either way, Bruno Fernandes (8.4) might still be the safest option.
Arsenal vs Spurs
Although Arsenal had struggles this season, the team seems to be ready going into the North London derby and the same can be said in a stronger tone about Spurs. There are many options when it comes to these games and we have learned that London Derbies are rarely predictable.
Sake (8.7), and Maddison (7.9) have had their prices rise for a reason as they are the highest-grossing players for their respective teams. However, this doesn't that players like Son (9.1), Udogie (4.7), Pedro Porro (5), Martin Ødegaard
(8.5), and Trossard (6.6) won't have a say.
It really is a game of scenarios, but these are the best options depending on what will be a very tight match.
Brighton vs Bournmouth
Brighton will be going into this match fresh from a huge win over Manchester United which came after another big win over Newcastle and Bournemouth doesn't seem to be the team that could stop Brighton from shining. The issue with Brighton, however, lies in the fact that the attacking threat is versatile which is not a problem for Di Zirby of course, but it is one for FPL players.
Pervis Estupiñán (5.3) is a great defensive addition as he comes with attacking threats. There are also Mitoma, March, and Gross all available at (6.5) and of course, the young Evan Ferguson who showed everyone how he can score available at only (6).
Chelsea vs. Aston Villa
The only consistency about Chelsea this season that they carried from last season is inconsistency. The fixtures so far should show London's blue side far ahead of their 14th place, yet there are they are. Aston Villa aren't doing much better but still are doing better nonetheless. This game has the potential to go different ways as both teams don't have a great, reliable defence nor the consistency up front.
Chelsea's attacking players might get activated at any moment with the belief that once a form is found it will take a while to be removed, however, the same can be said about Aston Villa. It's a game of odds that Chelsea might have a slight edge considering it is happening at their stadium, so defensive picks might be the way to go here with Gusto (4.2), Colwill (4.5), and Chilwell (5.8) being a great addition with goalkeeper Sanchez (4.5) being a great pick up for upcoming fixtures as well, although Chilwell does have a rotation scare circling around him.
Liverpool vs West Ham
West Ham United have really found a form this season. Yes, that form was slightly halted in their last game, but that game was against a superior Manchester City squad. The key in this game is whether West Ham's defence can stop Liverpool's attack. XG and EXG suggest West Ham have been doing better than they should have, therefore, their defensive strength might crumble at any moment, therefore, a bet on Liverpool's attackers might be the safer way to go.
The issue is which of Liverpool's attackers and defenders to bet on. Salah seems to be the most guaranteed to get points but the price of 12.5 seems to be a lot for a player whose duties have shifted to assisting. Still, options like Diaz (7.7), Dominik Szoboszlai (7), and Diogo Jota (7.9), provide great secondary options, and of course, Darwin Nunez (7.4) who could always find a clear path to the goal.
Sheffield United vs Newcastle
Sheffield is the only team this season to have conceded from Everton and hasn't beaten Everton and it was in a game at home. That should tell you where Sheffield is at the moment. A team that doesn't seem to have come prepared for the Premier League this season. There are teams who aren't going to win but you could count on for differentials, Sheffield doesn't seem to be among those teams.
Newcastle, on the other hand, will be going into this match as a way to make up lost points and they will be doing so after keeping a draw away in the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan and a win over Brentford before that. Picking up a Newcastle defender such as Botman (4.5) or Trippier (6.5) or even Schar (5) is a good shout for a clean sheet with either Isaak, Wilson, or Gordon (7.6, 7.8, and 5.5 respectively) being a dependable source for assists or goals.
Conclusion
That's it for this Game Week preview, this season seems to be the season of differentials and guessing which player is going to hit a winning form more than ever before. The key to winning points over fellow FPL players might not lie in the feet of Haaland, Salah, or the usual names as much as it lies with picking the right deffitentials.
