Game Week 20 Preview: Look out for these players

We've got another mouth-watering set of fixtures with a lot of potential and in this post, we'll delve into each fixture to find gems you could add to your team. Just as with every week, there are opportunities for your FPL squad and what we'll do is unearth those opportunities.

We're in wild card season and the stats suggest that a large percentage of players have embarked on the arduous journey of making all those transfers. I used mine and I've got to say, it is a lot of pressure.

Spurs vs Toons

We kick off the week with the resurgent Toon army making the oxymoronic long trip south to North London. With 4 wins on the bounce, Newcastle will be feeling quite optimistic as they face a struggling Spurs team that have managed just 1 point in their last 3 matches.

Alexandra Isak has been in red hot form in recent weeks and with the Spurs backline struggling with absences due to injuries, it is almost certain that he'd be amongst the goals. Jacob Murphy is another player that you should keep an eye on because he's had attacking returns in 3 of the last four matches for the resurgent Toon army.

Villa vs Foxes

Villa have been inconsistent in recent weeks but they should have more than enough firepower for the Foxes. Rogers will be a big miss in midfield but this is one of those games you can expect Ollie Watkins to bag a few goals.

Cherries vs Merseyside Blue

In an alternate universe, this would have been a relegation scrap but the Cherries are doing so well that a victory puts them in a European spot. That'll be difficult though because they're going up against Sean Dyche's plucky Everton side. I expect defences to be at the fore in this match, so keep an eye out for Pickford, Mykolenko and Huijsen.

Palace vs The Blues

Chelsea have wobbled in recent weeks but don't be mistaken, there's enough star power to put any team to the sword. Palace will be aware of this and will have probably developed a strategy to stifle the dangerous Cole Palmer who has adopted a more central role.

The England midfielder shoulders the creative responsibilities of the squad and is also a set-piece threat, so I reckon he should be a constant in your squad, if he already isn't.

Citizens vs Hammers

Man City's struggles in recent weeks are one of the biggest mysteries of the season. They simply cannot get it right, no matter how hard they try.

After a long period of humility, Haaland finally found the back of the net and facing this West Ham defence that just recently shipped in 5 goals at home to Liverpool, it might be another match week to forget for the Hammers.

Saints vs Bees

Brentford will feel unlucky to have not taken anything from the game against Arsenal but they showed that they're a very capable team that should have too much for the Saints.

Mbuemo was on the scoresheet against Arsenal and the winger will be looking to add to his tally against a Saints that are seemingly destined for relegation that just can't stop shipping in goals.

Seagulls vs Gunners

This match promises to be an attritional battle of wits between Brighton and Arsenal with a lot of assets to consider for your team. For Arsenal, Gabriel Maghalese has been the beneficiary of a lot of set pieces but with Saka's injury and Rice's reduced minutes, the service hasn't found the Brazillian centre-back's head.

Gabriel Jesus is a striker who seems to have found his scoring boots with attacking returns in his last four matches. He'd be looking to add to that tally against Brighton.

Cottagers vs Ipswich

Ipswich pulled off one of the biggest shockers of the season as they beat Chelsea 2-0 at home, so it will be wise not to write them off. Their away record so far hasn't exactly been impressive but they also got that surprise victory against Spurs in White Hart Lane, so there might be more to them.

In any case, you can keep your eyes on Robinson for both his attacking returns and a potential clean sheet. Iwobi is another player who's been an ever-present and could offer attacking returns.

The Reds vs The Red Devil

There used to be a time when this was a blockbuster fixture but right now, it is a title contender hosting a team threatened by relegation. Hiring a new manager hasn't fixed the deep-rooted issues plaguing Manchester United.

Mo Salah is doing his farewell tour and would like to leave the league on a high. He usually shines in these sorts of games and it is safe to say that he'll be doing some damage to Manchester United's backline. If you're one for the exotic, TAA is an option for defence while Diaz also looks like an option coming in from the other side of attack.

Wolves vs Forest

In an alternate universe, this would have been a relegation scrape but here we are at the halfway mark of the season with Forest holding on to a Champions League position. They face a Wolves team that has the capacity to do some damage.

Elanga and Gibbs-White are attacking options that could offer an attacking threat while Aina and Milenkovic could be interesting options at the other end. For Wolves, Cunha misses out through suspension but Guedes could be an option to explore.

I actually think Ipswich won’t lose this weekend.
