The phrases does looks to be very simpler, but it has a deep message conveyed through it. The phrases highlights the imprtance to take a short nap after our midday meal and then go for a walk for about a mile following our evening meal. The said golden rule is advocating for a period of rest following lunch and light exercise after dinner, which is often considered beneficial for digestion and overall health.

Resting after lumch :

People often take a rest after lunch because the process of digestion requires a significant amount of blood flow to the stomach, which can temporarily reduce blood supply to the brain, leading to feelings of drowsiness. Sometimes, hormonal changes after eating can also contribute to sleepiness, making a short rest beneficial for optimal cognitive function and overall wellbeing. There are multiple benefits associated with a short nap -

  1. Resting after a meal can help our body focus energy on the digestive process.

  2. A brief nap can help recharge our brain and improve cognitive function later in the afternoon.

  3. Taking a moment to relax can help manage stress levels.

Walking after dinner :

People often walk a mile after dinner, as gentle exercise after eating can help manage glucose spikes and promote better overall wellbeing. It can be a great way to support our body's processes after eating a meal. There are key benefits of walking after dinner :

  1. Walking after dinner can help stimulate digestion and move food through the system more efficiently.

  2. Exercise after a meal can help regulate blood sugar levels.

  3. A post-dinner walk can promote relaxation and potentially improve sleep quality.

Lunch & Dinner

A lunch is generally constitutes a large meal, especially one high in carbohydrates and fat, which can cause a blood sugar spike followed by a dip, leading to fatigue. While, a healthy dinner should be relatively light, include a good balance of protein, fiber-rich vegetables, a moderate amount of complex carbohydrates, and limited saturated fats. A dinner should aim for a meal that is filling but not too heavy, focusing on fresh, whole ingredients.

Different bodies have different requirement. But considering a healthy well being, following this golden rule is worth bringing a lot of changes. Do something today that our future self will thank us for.

In good faith - Peace!

Sadly the regular work day does not fit into that ideology so well. I'd probably get fired if I took a nap at my desk after my lunch! My wife and I try to exercise in the morning.

Morning routine is good, but trying our best to keep the momentum during the day is important. If not nap we can take rest before hitting the work desk....I agree our daily routine does not allow all book knowledge. Butbwe somehow Beed to find a way

I usually only nap on the weekends. If then.

Relaxation definitely helps us to manage stress and anxiety. Which inturn improves productivity.

That's true...relaxing at the end of the day is all importsnt things we can do at end of the day....
