A VISIT TO THE DENTIST

in Healthy Bees2 days ago

Come to think of it, it's been a really long time, more than a decade since I was last admitted to the hospital. I don't know about when I was a baby, but I can only recall being to the hospital thrice, throughout my life time.

The first time was when I was diagnosed with severe diarrhea. That was when I probably excreted all the fluids in m body. The second time was when I had an accident and got a broken tooth, and the last time, was when I went to remove the broken tooth. All these experiences taught me valuable things.

Inarguably, care givers are there to take care of you in the hospital, but then, I is only natural for you to do your own research about the condition so you will have first hand knowledge of what the care giver is doing to you.

During my last visit to the hospital, when I wanted to remove my tooth, I learnt quite a lot from the doctor.

Occasionally, my broken tooth used to ache sooo bad that I had to take pain relief every now and then. I visited the hospital and the doctor told me that I had a dental cavity and the tooth needs to be removed.

Welp, after much consideration, I decided to remove the tooth. So, I went to the hospital that day, and he got it removed. I thought that was all, but he went further to give me instructions on how to avoid infection.

That day, I learnt the importance of salt and warm water to avoid infections in a tooth injury. I didn't know that salt and water can be used for this purpose until that day.

Even at this, i was not serious with the salt and water therapy until I saw the repercussion. After that, I became serious with the therapy and also made some research. The results of not religiously taking the antibiotics and salt and water motivated to continue with the therapy.

From my research, I learnt that salt and water is very helpful to heal the injury and also avoid complications such as infections.

I also learnt that it is advisable to avoid strenuous activity for at least two days, but guess what? After the extraction, with the help of the anesthesia, I went to photocopy some documents while bitting hardly on the cotton gauze to stop the haemorrhage. After that, I went for a long distance journey. I was really feeling the pain, but it was an important journey so, I went anyways.

So, when I learnt about the two days rest after tooth removal, I was actually scared, thinking that it will not heal. Welp, it took about two weeks to heal which is unusual. This was because of my initial lackadaisical attitude towards the salt and water therapy.

The one advice I have for people who removed their tooth is to follow their doctors instructions religiously. Salt and water treatment should not be joked with.

Thank you for reading.

It's very important to follow the instructions of the doctor because not doing so could lead to risky situations that would even cost us more both financially and time.

Ouch! Tooth removal is not an easy experience. I heard tooth issues are really really painful. It's surprising how you transported yourself tru and fro with all that pain. Must have been a whole lot to go through. Anyways, I'm glad it was a success.

We believe in self-medication in Africa, ignorance is killing most people. We need to consult our doctors about our health anytime any day.
