FIRST TIME USING EXCEL

There is always a first time for doing anything and there come a weird outcome especially when you were not perfect in that particular thing before now. This prompt has made me recall the first time I engaged in using Excel sheet for documentation for a job I got a while back.

I never knew it would be that tedious, all my mind I thought it was something I Will conveniently learn on the job but reverse was the case when I actually faced the laptop and the complicated excel sheet was staring at me in the face and I had no idea what to do.

On getting to the office, I opened the app confidently ready to complete the task as soon as possible and to display my talent like I am an actual tech guru, but I froze at the sight of it, the numerous rows, cells, grids, numbers and so on felt like a mathematical session which I did not sign up for.

It was not a funny thing and I did not want to look or sound like I had no idea of what I wanted to do. Then I silently asked a colleague on how I can filter out some data from the sheet, then he replied and said I should just use a formula to achieve my aim.

I was flabbergasted because I had no idea what a formula for excel was. It felt so difficult that my colleague who was familiar with helped me by using a formula to get the eminent lost to follow up client.

When I tried to do the same thing that I had just way he'd my colleague do, I clicked something and the whole sheet disappeared just like that. I won't lie it felt like chemistry and mathematics and I questioned myself if I was actually ready to be productive for the job.

I had no choice as a Nigerian youth whom the government has neglected and there Rae no jobs around, I had to sort myself out by taking crah courses for beginners in excel. There I learnt all the basics such as Rows which includes numbers: 1,2,3 and Columns which includes letters: A,B,C, formatting data, sorting and filtering and so on.

Yes, it was awkward at first but in the end I have mastered quite a bit of it.

Excel!

I'm ashamed.
I still don't know how to use the sheet and I've worked in places that need it. I've always dodged doing anything there and when it came to worst, I did magic and submitted the reports 😂

I'm not even ready to learn. That thing is complicated 😂
