For many years how I have been happily using the PeakD front end for doing the majority of publishing, curating, and commenting on HIVE. Between PeakD and Ecency, I think we have two top tier front ends at our fingertips.
One of my favorite features of PeakD is the "Favorites" feed that can be found under the Feeds link at the top left of the page. For users like me who follow a large number of people on Hive, sifting through all the posts on any given day can be a bit of a chore. The Favorites list allows you to highlight a select group of people so you can see what they have posted lately.
It has been game changing for me and the way I use the platform. Ecency has a similar feature, but it doesn't work quite the same way that PeakD does, so I haven't been able to make the switch fully to Ecency and still accomplish what I want.
Unfortunately, the reliability of the "Favorites" list has been hit or miss lately. Right now it is actually miss. Personally, I've been struggling to perform my regular curating tasks due to the inability to load my favorites feed.
I realize this is more of a "first world problem", but I know I am not the only one who has come to rely on this feature and having it work correctly would be amazing.
In recent discussions with someone on the @peakd server, it came to light that the reason the favorites feed continues to not work is because most node operators are not running this additional piece of software on their nodes that allows the favorites feed to work properly.
I fully understand all the factors that go into deciding whether or not to run a piece of software on your mission critical servers. I run servers myself and perhaps there is something about the software that is keeping more people from running it. If that is the case, please feel free to educate me in the comments.
If not, I highly encourage more node operators to install this software so that these extra front end features will work and work reliably.
It's not a great look for the blockchain if new users go to use the front ends and pieces don't work. It's also frustrating for long time users like me.
I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter. If someone from PeakD wants to hop in the comments and correct any inaccuracies in my post, please feel free. I'm not writing this post to call anyone out or point fingers at anyone in particular.
It seems like it is a pretty easy solution to a common problem, so I hope we can reach some kind of resolution on it soon.
I've been using Peakd much less as of late because of the same. Ecency also is having it's issues and Inleo. I hope more node operators install it as well.
Fancy seeing you here on a Saturday by the way!
Yeah, I don't usually post on the weekends, but this felt like it needed attention, so I made the exception. I actually pulled my vote for the DHF proposal until things can get fixed. It seems now that may have been premature on my part, but I did notice that a certain PeakD user unfollowed me when I removed my vote, so they must track all of that for some reason which is kind of interesting...
That is funny! You get an unfollow for not supporting their DHF proposal.. Someone must care!
Yeah, pretty interesting. Let's see if they follow me back now that I supported it again. I figure if it really isn't their fault that nodes aren't running the software I may as well support them.
There it is....

Good old Hive.Blog working just fine!
Its hard though to find peakd not working, I've encountered error maybe once in a blue moon when using peakd. But if this software can help fix up some issues then maybe it's worth it
I have the issue pretty much constantly with the favorites feed, no matter what computer or browser I am using. I think a lot of people don't realize the feature is there so they never have an issue with it.
Hmm I dont usually look that up cause I work with my phone have you tried it on mobile?
I use Ecency when I am on mobile.
Ohh ok I got you
I use the favorites a lot too and it has not been working for a while. This is not the first time and one time it took a really long time to come back up.
I don't always have time to go through all I follow when I am just dashing in. I quickly check wallet and then the favorites and then if I am not in a hurry I go to my general follows.
I'd definitely like to have my favs back.
I totally agree with you. I don't think people realize just how useful it is!
Its really frustrating when software is released and not back tested. Fingers crossed it can get resolved soon.
I hope so as well, but it has been quite some time now that it hasn't been working reliably.
My API node was one of the few running the Peakd plug-in but it's been rebuilding for the last days.
It's been fixed now and all their features are now operational.
Awesome! Thanks for the update!
Oh man I’m fully with you on this one dude! I love the favorites feature but it is indeed a huge PITA when it doesn’t work.
One thing I have done out of necessity is trim my following list. I don’t love to do it but I have to be realistic - do I spend time interacting with this person on a weekly basis? Monthly basis? If not then off your head goes in terms of my following list! It has helped quite a bit of clutter reduction.
Good to know that it is a piece of software causing this whole scuffle. Hopefully the witnesses can get that sorted out! I would perhaps cross post this into the Hive dev community or ask the hive as that’s where a lot of people have their attention on.
Thanks for the tip. I wasn't exactly sure where to post this. I was hoping the community I picked would get some traction. If you are in one of those communities, feel free. I don't mind. I've thought about cutting my following list, but there are a lot of folks I like seeing every now and then even if I don't curate them regularly.
Yeah I hear you on that. I do have some people in my following list that I don't visit all the time but when I have a hankering for them, I will stop by!
I'll give it a day or two and see if it gets some attention then cross-post it!
Congratulations @bozz! You received a personal badge!
