Welcome to church! Open Church is a weekly post that aims to be a place where Christians on Hive can hang out, encourage and build up one another, and reflect the love of Christ. The church is not a building, but is made up of people who have been transformed by God’s grace.
Each week I will be putting up a new post with a new topic or theme for discussion. But feel free to come here just to fellowship and be a blessing to one another. Whatever denominational background your from, or if you’re just curious about the Christian faith, everyone is welcome.
So feel free to share a link to your favourite worship song, share a word of encouragement, a prayer request, or introduce yourself.
Today’s topic is: Who is your favorite person from the Bible?
There are a lot of individuals in the Bible who inspire and challenge us, but there are also some very interesting characters that perplex us. But all these individuals and their stories teach us something about God, how He deals with His people, and teaches us something about human nature.
So today I want to explore with our Christian Fellowship community about some of these individuals in the Bible. I would like to hear about who are your favorites, and why these people challenge or inspire you. Or perhaps it’s some lesser known stories in the Bible, or it may not be the heroes, but it can be anyone who has taught us some valuable lessons that speaks into our life each day.
So go on, I would like to hear from you in the comments below.
Blessings
Jimmy
As for me, Prophet Elijah is my favorite and i learn the following lesson from his character and dedication to God;
He was a man who was very strong, zealous and courageous in his generation. He never tolerated intimidation. He chose to stand firm in the midst of the perverse generation and grave persecution of king Ahab. I like the strong faith he exhibited where he even called up fire from heaven which put up a great distinction of the real God in heaven that people were supposed to Worship.
O yes, Elijah is a great example of faith and courage. There’s a lot we can learn from him. Thanks for sharing.
The obvious answer would be Jesus :)
But other than the King Himself...It has to be Daniel for me. Not only did he write some of the most profound prophecies in scripture, his faith was never in question.
From Daniel 1 with refusing to eat the king's food to never stopping his daily prayers. He followed God, not man. His book has helped shaped my faith.
Haha yep, Jesus is the obvious answer. But yes, apart from Jesus.
Daniel is an excellent example for us. One of the very few people in the Bible where you couldn’t really find anything wrong with his life. And what incredible faith, courage and devotion. So much we can learn from his life and the book of Daniel.
Agreed....Him and Joshua :) Fascinating stories how the relied 100% on God. Never questioned, amazing faith.
King David is one man I look up to and I am a big fan. He has taught me what it means to serve God even though He made some mistakes in life, he never repeated one mistake twice. He is my favourite.
Yes, there’s a lot we can learn from King David. I admire his heart to seek and please God in all things, and his trust in God. I like what you said, indeed he made some mistakes, but he learnt from them and didn’t repeat the same mistakes. He was always repentant when he sinned.
Yea, He is a life worth of emulation. I also want to be a woman after God's heart.
Thank you @nextgen622.
That's good.👍
Apostle Paul is my favourite person! He teaches me dedication and faith.
O yes, Paul is a favorite of mine too. There’s so much we can learn from him.
It is David for me also. Even after extreme failure, God called him a man after His Own Heart.
