I don't watch the Olympics, but we typically check YouTube or the like to see what agenda has been slipped into ceremonies like this or the Super Bowl. With the recent Paris opening ceremony, it was quite shocking (although why is anything shocking anymore, really?).
We watch no live TV in our home, and this is another example of why it's good that we've made that decision. By the time you switch off something that you don't want in your home, the damage may already have been done. Little eyes have already been exposed to something you may not want.
Anyway, as a Christian, the opening ceremony offends me and makes me sad. I cannot imagine them doing something similar to mock Muhammad, Malcom X, or RuPaul without total outrage. It seems as though mocking Jesus and Christianity is acceptable.
Why does one deny Christ's existence and still want to mock him? Does this make sense? Why would you mock something that you believe doesn't exist?
I can be offended, hurt, sad, and mad about the Olympic opening ceremony, but it doesn't change the fact that I need to pray for these people - both the actors and the creators of the event. It is also true that Christ died for me, you, them and loves all of us as well.
Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Ephesians 6:12 - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
their post about the opening ceremony, and I believe it is worth a watch!I watched this @pressfortruth video this morning on
Here is a short by Living Waters asking people their reactions to the ceremony. The longer version can be found here -
I hadn't seen this, I too don't have a T.V, best to keep them out of homes. It's crazy how so many are afraid to speak up in fear of been labelled. Crazy times we are living in. It's all a circus these days. xx
It is definitely a circus and things are crazy. It's pretty impossible to find anything worth watching anymore...except Bluey. 😉
I watched the opening of the Olympics but I can’t spot what you mean by disrespecting Christ
I’d have to watch it maybe I can get what you’re saying
The reenactment of the Last Supper by the LGBT community dressed in drag.
