I believe it is no coincidence that the songs "Good, Good Father" and "Good and Loved" were on my mind the days before Father's Day was celebrated on the 18th of June.
I only got to enjoy my dad for the first 11 years of my life and sometimes I forget what having a dad is like. As a Christian, I have been taught that God is Father, Abba. And although I confess the statement and I hear it alot, it didn't really have such a deep meaning for me.
For the month of June in my church, it has been a series of teachings on Prayer as we are also fasting. It was during one of these teachings that I first heard my pastor make this statement, "The highest title of God is Father. The height of faith is to see / receive God as Father." At first I was like, "Okayyy... So what happens next?"
Now, the beautiful thing about the Christian life is that we have the Holy Spirit that makes God's word very real to us. Hearing that statement literally began a work of the Spirit in my heart. I kept on thinking about the statement at random times throughout the week. And I allowed my mind dwell on this statement and I intend to explore the realities and possibilities of what this statement truly means for me, as a believer!
I am grateful for moments like this. I am grateful for mind renewal. And I am grateful for growth.
P.S. Do check out the songs, "Good, Good Father" by Chris Tomlin and "Good and Loved" by Travis Green ft Steffany Gretzinger.
